If the new rules suggest that GWS can now match Hawthorn's offer, Hawks may be less inclined to trade 2 first rounders and may not see the trade worth it. Whereas Carlton's offer remains much higher and will not be matched. Might have a foot in the door with this one. Who knows..?

I don’t think it’s new rules though is it? It seems crazy that you would ever have had to match the exact payment every single year of the contract as payments within teams change all the time.

Mentioned Ellis a month ago not that any of us want him, was definitive on it being clarko or teague.

Is possible they may know something, or nothing at all.

Makes it easier if one adopts the attitude that any decent trade in is a super bonus rather than anything else....give it a couple of years and the age group you are pointing at will all be there - naturally grown up together...

They're just saying that ... on average ... you have to be within the salary cap. Pfft, we've known that for years!

I posted an screenshot of an article from I think 2012 that pretty much shows this rule so I don’t think it’s anything new. Maybe it’s just one of those things people think and say so often that it somehow becomes fact.

A few of us told him to calm down. Then the news that the sum of our trading week would net us the grand prize of Ellis got too much..

Agree, which is why he'll sit nicely on a wing if we land him. Docherty/Stocker/Williamson come in to fit the Daisy role. LOB and Ellis occupy the wings, with Walsh and Setterfield chopping out.
