It'd be more like trading Riewoldt IMO. Simpson is a role model you want in the side for the kids coming through. If he's out of contract he'd be a Free Agent anyway and we'd get no compo, a la Waite.

No it is more like trading the heart and soul of your club, players such as Lenny Hayes or Nick Riewoldt are better comparisons compared to front running soft squibs like Goddard and Dal Santo who can be replaced much easier.

I don't watch a lot of Essendon games but from what I have seen he didn't impress me at all. This coupled with his attitude suggests he may be quite divisive within a club.

Seems a high risk, having said that we will probably pick him up.

It could be that or the 3 years from hell that the club has put him through. I'd be pretty pissed off too if a club said to me "we don't know what we gave you but we know it wasn't illegal"
