Fair enough leaving GriffinLogue off with a recent ACL

Highly regarded, high draft pick despite ACL Brayden George is due well over a year from injury, Coleman-Jones a talented but troubled forward ruck who will be a staple if plays to potential. Stephenson highly talented flake is historic best 22 as well.
and
how did their co-captains Simpkin and McDonald disappear in to the ether?
Never seen George play, CCJ is a VFL player at best and Simpkin and Mcdonald are absolutely putrid by foot. Don't think either of them should be B22 despite being able to rack up junk disposals or being co captains. Stevenson I weighed up but he was in and out of the side on form this year and has looked mentally lost since leaving the Pies.

Thats just my opinion though.

Oliver would be a great get, however Melbourne's need for compensation for loosing him is far greater than the opportunity cost of us missing out on him.
Oliver is one of the best midfielders in the game.

He would also be one of the least suitable players in the league for us given what our midfield already looks like.

This would be almost Gawn and Grundy level of recruiting.

First trade period in over a decade where I hardly care at all.

Our list is in great shape and we don't need someone to come in to put us in the window.

Were already in the window.

Absolutely love it.
I love this. But Collingwood made a prelim last year and went out and got Mitchell, and bobby.

Can always improve

They also got McStay and Frampton.

Although starting to doubt if they actually got Frampton or just a 2m cardboard cutout...

Reading between the lines of what old Tom Morris reported this morning, it sounds like the Melbourne players have had a gutfull of Oliver. Apparently big Max even took him into his home earlier this to provide support, but it appears he may have run his race at the club.

He also reported that there have been meetings of senior players at potential rival clubs to discuss whether he would fit into their culture - or something along those lines. It sounded like Morris knows more than he reported (being close to the club), but it seems that they'd be happy to let Oliver go - for the 'right price' of course.

With the "buyer beware" neon sign hanging around his neck, Melbourne may not get the trade capital they'd be looking for, especially with the massive contract that would come with him.

He mentioned about 4 clubs who could be connected with a trade - Carlton was one of them. Not sure if he was just spitballing though.

clubs don't leak like that unless there's a reason. suspect it's to soften the fans up for when he's pushed out but could also be a warning to him that further behaviour won't be tolerated. They won't go much further unless forced to because he has six years and 6mill owed and the club will need to maximise trade value.

Big Caveat Emptor energy imo

Thanks all!
Is the blumour silly season thread, whether from imitation Tom Browne, or any one of us posting the stuff in this thread ... 99% don't come to fruition and we take it with a grain of salt.

Still probably less fake than the real Tom Browne, or Ralphy.

Spell check is your friend if Tom Browne has 2 W's in his Twitter handle it's probably not him.

Although to be fair Tom may well struggle to spell his name.

Andy Maher on SEN just mentioned Petty has apparently got a desire to head back to SA. If that happens the Dees are going to be utterly desperate to find a KPF.
Was also mentioned by Tom Morris earlier, though maybe not during this contract (2yrs to go).
Though the lure of coin can bring on the desire to get where the buck$ are coming from/home & Adelaide need a KPD.

Hewett and Kennedy would be looking for a new home, along with Dow.
Won’t happen though. The good clubs do consider culture when trading these days, not just talent.

Far more succinctly put !

To take that next step is problematic. I think we only need to add one or two elements of the below. Cant ask for everything but 2 of the following could see us improve enough to get the chocolates.

  • TDK needs to progress another 10% to then standalone removing the need for Pitto (leads to more ground speed / more player quality)
  • We potentially need a 'Petty' type in our side to free up Weitering more (debatable as required for some opponents and not others)
  • The midfield mix really just needs 1 more two way runner who has an elite inside 50 kick. What is problematic is that I'd drop Cripps out for that player. Cripps has carried us but now gets banged up pretty quickly, cant run defensively, and is our worst kick going inside 50 let alone decision maker with ball in hand. Cerra/Hewett can manage the inside ball role.
  • Voss teaches the side turnover footy. We are wasting talent in Saad/Docherty who just run and blaze away. There is no eloquence to what they are doing...just high quality footballers trying hard.
