C4 said yesterday that it was his gut feel only.
My gut feel has always a been he will end up a Blue. It makes perfect sense for us. Carlton supporter as a kid. Very close mates with JSOS and many of the other boys. Close with Voss from his Port days. And our defenders being our oldest line with us needing to start planning for life outside Newman, Sadd etc without throwing our kids to the wolves and staying in the premiership window. We are playing the whole ‘interested but not that interested’ line in the media mainly out of respect to Port but also to preserve our 1st pick this year. You know we’re pretty damn keen and I think even how the players have talked about him, it will happen. They’ve clearly been asked my list management if they want him so discussions are deep.

When was the last time we actually secured the childhood Carlton supporter in trade or free agency?

All of these are fantastic reasons for him to come across but at the same time the bigger picture suggests it's probably not in our best interests to go in too deep.

Would hate to make the trade only to realise later that we haven't addressed key team issues that should've been addressed

Get a young tall and a two way contriburor who have 10+ years in the system and that'll be a masterstroke. Then the Campos.

Twomey seems to be taking joy in hating on us this year. Over the past few months he has been really condescending and laughs at us at every opportunity on gettable. There's a clear attitude shift, I reckon someone's pissed him off at the club.

Twomey and the other media in a similar situation have come to expect greater access from the Carlton Football Club than what they've even given this year.

Whenever they've come up with some bullshit (Harry McKay to Melbourne) the club has been very quick to give the media a backhander

This hasn't gone down well because "we're only doing our job and you're not making it easy for us" and we get this outcome.

Honestly, **** em.

We know we've had tighter lips here. Less takes from our true ITK posters and only leaking when the club is happy for something to be leaked.

Yep and Sammy Edmund appears to be the main beneficiary in the media...must piss the others off.

Sammy Edmund developing a reputation as being one of the most reliable straight shooters in the media landscape. He usually doesn't bend the truth unless the truth has been bent to him.

We're not going to get a great key tall this year. Lots of teams are chasing them and there just aren't many available. Maybe next year with Aleer etc. We will address that through a stop gap like Phillips this year.

We will still get the Campos and a good draft pick this year (possibly a two way runner) regardless of whether we acquire Houston or not. And we will still be able to address other needs. My point is mainly that he makes a hell of a lot more sense for our list than the Magpies and we can get a deal done. Despite what people say about throwing Doc back into defence, none of what he, Saad, or Newman provide open up as many attacking chains as what Houston would do. You can look at stats all you want and say Newman = Houston like some have done on here but Newman whilst being a good player does not create attacking plays. Our ball movement is horrible and Houston would help significantly in this space. Anyone who says he's not a need I respect as they're Blues supporters but I flat out disagree with. It's actually a really pressing need for our list alongside like you say, a KPD, two-way runner etc.

They just further clarified the earlier statement by Hannebery. Tom Morris has just outlined pretty much the exact trade scenario above that leaves us with 12 and 14. Mentioned we could then split one into two picks and give them to Port. Hannebery again saying based on the "rumblings" that Carlton are very confident

Good. Walk away from the bidding war for Pick 13, it doesn't benefit us to pay overs for that pick and then overs again for Houston. There are at least 4 clubs who could have a genuine desire to trade out a pick in the early/mid teens, so we should be sounding them all out, taking the best deal for us, and then using that pick (or our own first) to form the basis of the Houston offer. Doesn't matter if we get 14 and Collingwood get 13, Port aren't going to refuse to deal with us and try to force Houston to the Pies over one pick spot.

Once we've got another pick in the teens, we'll open serious talks with Port, and if we can come to a suitable arrangement then the deal will be done quickly so that Port can move on to their deal for Lukosius. They want/need the first rounder as much as we want/need Houston - that is to say, it serves a purpose, but their fortunes don't hinge on it. It doesn't benefit either club to pissfart around til deadline day.

Q1.Port "improvised"? YES
Q2 By what, bringing in potatoes like Zerk-Thatcher and Esava? THEY ARE CONTRACTED

And? I'll take Weitering + Young over those two any day...

Q3 We have bigger holes to plug than a second KPD... midfield and small forwards. Like I mentioned previously, if a second KPD was our biggest worry why were we down 60-0 despite Young doing a good job? YOUNG WASN'T DOING A GOOD JOB.

🤣

Port give Houston get:luko richards and 34

Collingwood give richards and noble get Carlton F1

Carlton give F1 and F2, 34 get Houston

GC give Luko get Carlton F2 and noble

Win win for everyone imo thoughts?
GC gets the F1, Collingwood gets the F2, 34 goes nowhere.

Absurd asking price for two bog average Collingwood players in a strong draft.
You’re dreaming if you think Collingwood give up those 2 for an F1 😂🤣
You're right, they're probably that delusional
We have interest in Freo's pick 11 in the event we can't get GC's pick 13. Freo will be open to trading it only if Bolton deal falls through, which will happen late if it happens at all. - Cal Twomey
Or we can just acquire it from Richmond if they're keen enough on Kennedy and future picks.
Wasn’t via trade or free agency
Which then leads to a very obvious conclusion: his brother.
