God SOS is a moron. Future 2nd is our final offer!

Mate you're the one chasing him, not us trying to dish him

Can't believe he lucked out on Weiters, Mckay and Curnow. Wouldn't have a job if he didn't

SOS maybe a grump, but got to say he knows how to negotiate.

Sure, his kemp offer means we won’t negotiate - but that same negotiation style got us two first round picks for Gibbs (and one of those picks was converted into two second round picks including pick 29 which got us TdK), he turned Tom Bell and a second round pick into a first round pick / Charlie Curnow, Henderson into pick 9 / Harry.

Know that SoS isn’t popular round here and he had a pretty mixed outcome on selections with quite a few misses, but credit where credit is due - guy can negotiate and he was good at picking “talls.”

This is just such contrived rubbish from the whole industry. How is it we are just hours away from trade deadline, and this offer had just been made and now rejected. This type of offer would of and should of have occurred before the weekend and most likely discussed with the Dogs before the Saints even traded back with Brisbane. Too much theatre and posturing.

That trade was probably offered days ago and rejected days ago. Trade radio tweeting just now that it's been rejected. Look for them to tweet soon that the Saints came in with a better offer which has been accepted.... a trade that was accepted days ago.

The league stage manages everything. It's all one big show.

This is SOS creating a little instability if you like to call it.
Make some noise within the club (adding Weits as well) and then try to shake out a few. Not necessarily today but down the track even. His not a dumb operator by any stretch.
Need to be firm here and not play the game.

Yep, and the attempt today is aimed at the guy who will compete with his son as 3rd tall forward (among other positions).

Formenting instability and undermining (national -> club) security

I wanted all three Silvagni boys to make it.

Jack = SOSOS (son of SOS)
Ben = BOSOSOS (brother of)
Tom = OBOSOSOS (other brother of)

:p
Alex = NDRTASOSOSRISCTS (not directly related to any son of SOS rather is second cousin to steve)

Nothing so overt, but it wasn't a resounding "he has no interest in moving".

"The clubs are talking" and "Kempy may have a decision to make soon, but at the moment he doesn't" says to me that he'd potentially be open to a move if Carlton decide the trade is one that benefits us. He's keeping his options open, while sticking to the "he's happy at the club" party line so that it's not perceived as him trying to jump ship.

I reckon this was SOS's hope and intention. Even if the trade doesn't eventuate this year, the fact that we haven't immediately knocked it on the head effectively says to Kemp that the club are open to trading him. That in turn means that the Saints, and any other club for that matter, can get in his ear from now until the end of next season saying "Hey, we'd love to have you, we know Carlton didn't trade you last year but they were clearly open to it....maybe they aren't as committed to you as you think".

On that basis, trading him this year might be the smarter play...if we can get St Kilda to pony up something tasty. If we end up deciding that the offer's not good enough, you can bet your arse they'll come knocking again in 12 months when his contract is up, and we're gonna have less leverage then.

Nah, next year for future pick/s for 2026 draft if anything. We are going to need them

I think there's something to this. Throw something out there this year, go hard at it next year (when he's out of contract).
Kemp will either establish himself as a key player by the end of next year or be a jack of all trades/master of none. If it's the former it probably indicates we've had a good year and he'll get a good pay increase. If it's the latter he can go to football purgatory with the Saints.

It’s all BS. Listening to Trade Radio, apparently all deals have ‘stalled’.

That’s code for…it’s too early guys, let’s hold off until 6PM and we’ll then smash all these deals out in the last 60 mins before the deadline…

There will literally be 10+ deals all lodged in the last hour.
yeah but they don't care... Captive market and people listen even if they hate it. Pattern is people will listen and complain instead of just turning it off. So they get engagement. That's all that matters to the advertisement etc
