Agree. It is pretty clear, Austin will go to the draft with a top ten pick. Petracca will not happen.
I interpret Austin's responses as meaning he would trade down for a top 6 pick and a pick around 20 or be content with holding 3. Austin is probably saying, I have done the heavy lifting, but am open to clubs that want to pursue us and offer substantial value. If he could obtain that second round pick(via kennedy) and keep 3 before draft night, he has delivered Carlton an outstanding outcome

Blues need to not care if they draft O'sullivan, Lalor or Draper.
I would take any of them if it lead to another top 20 pick

No it's not. The future 1st got us pick 14. You can't count it twice. We also effectively swapped our future 2nd for the Lions which we still hold and can't trade.

It's alright to be the prophet of doom but you have to quote the right numbers as a part of it.

Always need to assess these deals at the end of the trade/draft period, but just on this deal I am not enamoured

Lost: 12, 34, 73, F1, Owies - Gained: 3, 63, 68

Pros: We have a chance at picking up a solid A grader, releasing salary cap and more points for the Campo Twins (which I believe could be done without this deal)

Cons: Lose the chance to pick up 2 x solid B graders

We really won't know the success rate for at least 4 years, but let's just nail pick 3

So I haven't really been paying attention to the top of the draft this year, but it does really seem like there is a glut of players even down as far as #7 or #8 in the draft that all could go in the top #1-#2 spots this year depending on preference. Is it therefore an opportunity to maybe trade back into Pick #5 (Melbourne), #6 (Gold Coast or Richmond) for another strong pick. For example would Gold Coast do #6 and #23 for #3?

priority is lalor if available however the club believes Lalor will be taken at 2 by north so will take FOS but bluff adelaide into thinking we want draper and try and get an extra pick or even deal with them now if Melbourne shut down petracca talks to try and get Rachele ( could be 3 and kennedy pick for 4 and rachele)
