Well the rules stipulate the options from here are match and keep or go to the draft. It doesn't state trade as an option, so that would have had to occur before the offer, eg. Dangerfield.

and St Kilda can't really massively overpay at the trade table, they don't have the picks to do it.

Only way we come moderately close to getting value is if we get their future 1st and they end up bombing next year and finishing bottom 4 (I personally think they'll drop next year, but probably not bottom 4)

Like any other club in our position would've done? We're easy targets no doubt but let's not act like most clubs wouldn't do the same.

At least we didn't come out at the start of the year and say we will win the grand final a la Ken Hinkley. Now, that's laughable.

If the Adelaide football club deems that is a low ball offer and he Is worth so much more, then it should be an easy decision to match and not even contemplate negotiations for a trade.. No club owes any other club anything in this competition, so unfortunately just because the Crows were hopeful to get pick 2, why should another club pay 200k a year more and put their future salary cap in jeopardy just to appease them?
Crouch has clearly tested the waters to see where his market value lies, and now the ball is in the Crows court.
Sounds as though the majority believe you should match, because Crouch is worth so much more than the reported 600k a year so it should be an easy decision

If we go the trade route, we need to tell St Kilda to upgrade their pick 17 into (at least) GWS' pick 10. Doesn't matter how they do it, that's on them.

Once they have secured that pick, then we can do the trade and get what is (at least in my opinion) fair value and the next best thing to pick 2 (although obviously nowhere near as good).

What won't help us in a rebuild is pick 17 and another pick in the 15+ range next year, when we'll likely finish bottom 4 and already have a stack of picks

It only becomes ammunition if we let Crouch take FA and accept pick 23. Then Kellys tough talk comes back to haunt the club

At the moment, we tried for pick 2 which didn't work and the Saints talk a big game and look like paupers again. A bit of a nothing situation all round for us.
