Now we need a couple of mature, quality recruits to enhance the team and tie up weak spots. THAT'S how you build a premiership team.
Watch us **** this up again. But hey....with Trav Cloke kicking bags of goals and intimidating opposition backmen, what we worried about?
Ok Galacticman.....lets have a look at how a premiership team is built.
2009 Geelong - Didnt they get Mooney from North 10 years ago. Who else is there? Oh yeh. Ottens who they got in his early 20s.
2008 Hawthorn - oh yeh they got that fat bloke who went into retirement. Oh yeh and that guy who got the hair transplant!!.. They were important to the premiership.
2007 Geelong - see above
2006 West Coast - Chick. Remember he won the game by punching the ball. Stenglein and Steven Armstrong who helped keep the interchange seat warm.
2005 Sydney - Big Bad Barry who was with them for quite a few years. Who can forget Nick Davis. Jolly of course. Yep, they traded for a premiership, but then again they trade to keep afloat.
2004 Port Adelaide - Wanganeen, Wakelin and Pickett. Yep. This is good example of buying a premiership.
2001- 2003 Brisbane. Allistar Lynch and the Scott Brothers who basically spent most of their careers at Brisbane.
so I suppose the teams have traded 3 or 4 times, as we have with Cam Wood and with O'Bree and Medhurst. I must admit that the trades were important to the Port win, but the other teams could have done without them. I wouldn't really count Mooney and Ottens for Geelong because they were traded to build a side, not deliver a premiership.
Anyway, that's HOW to build a premiership team.
