Well I'll let you into a secret Brendon, I've been a St Kilda fan for over 30 years. If you want to stay at St Kilda "forever", well you are among good company. I'm proud of you for coming out and making a fool of the idiots clammering for you to leave. I will support you, and the club that you play for, "forever".

i'm sorry lets be honest here, how many players said last year they wanted to stay at their own club and then went to goald coast?

don't take what goddard says to heart .

if the Saints don't offer him enough money to stay and GWS said you can have the captaincy and double the saints amount per year to come over, most likely he will move..

guess what most people would do?

Yeah Ablett, Bock and Rischitelli all said they would stay at their clubs last year.

Geez they were hammering Goddard on The Footy Show about going to GWS. Anyone would think the media want him to go to GWS the way they are carrying on about it.

Don't know how many times he has to tell them he wants to stay at St Kilda before they will shut up about it. I guess until he signs a new contract with us the speculation is going to continue, just hope it doesn't distract him from playing good footy in the meantime.

Funny how they mentioned "media speculation" when it was merely from the article gary lyon wrote.

He's probably trying to put the focus on to Goddard being the main GWS target to take the heat off Scully at Melbourne.

I really can't understand why Goddard has all of a sudden been touted as the main GWS target when he is contracted for next year and has given no indication that he wants to leave St Kilda.

I think someone mentioned vaguely that BJ would be a great pick up and presumably captain for GWS assuming the Collingfilth boys don't go.....

Thing is though that wouldn't be until 2013, so it assumes that the 2012 captain for GWS just wants to give it up after a year.

In my view, BJ will be offered a contract of a less $ value than GWS can throw at him.....but he will be offered the captaincy as an incentive. GWS can offer him huge $$$ but the captaincy would be presumably out of reach.

It's probably unrealistic to think we could match an offer from GWS purely in dollar terms but I think if we can go reasonably close to matching their offer, plus throw in a few other incentives through sponsorships and the captaincy I think he will stay.

As he has said, he is a loyal person and wants to stay at St Kilda so as long as we can give him a fair and reasonable offer he should stay.

We couldnt go close.

Well when I say close, somewhere in the same ballpark.

If GWS already fork out big bucks for a few other star players in their first year they may not have as much money to throw at Goddard when he comes out of contract at the end of next year.

In any event I doubt Goddard would be offered the sort of money Ablett is on at the Gold Coast.

Mmm im undecided. Of course he is a favourite of just about any saints fan but forget ballpark we will not get anywhere near 50% of what GWS can offer and if we dont get compensation while hes contracted he can go in a year and we probly get nothing. We got mothing for luke ball and i couldnt care less but brendon goddard is 100 times luke ball no matter who finishes with more premiership meddalions and as garry lyon says we deserve the 2 best 17 year olds in the whole country for him. I say better to deal but most importantly finish on good terms with him.

Stop worrying you guys.....can't see BJ or too many players for that matter wanting to go to a poxy part of sydney to play footy...

Could understand them moving up to the gold coast, god who wouldn't!...but not there..

Nah, he's a Saint and will stay that way IMO..:thumbsu:

Goddard strikes me as an intelligent young man.

His words were measured, of course every player would like to be a one club player, but the commercial realities of modern football are a pretty big temptation.

Goddard mentioned the fact that he was contracted until the end of next year, so is Pendlebury.

Goddard spoke of a life after football in regards to the current CBA negotiations, he also spoke of addressing any GWS offer if and when it comes.

Players are entitled to some degree of selfishness, at best they have a 12 year window to make the most of their talents.

I for one would not begrudge Goddard if he were to leave for a more lucrative offer, I tend to think it will come down to how competitive St Kilda are for the remainder of the year and whether he believes this playing group is capable of going all the way.-

They dont have to live at the Stadium.

If BJ is offered the mega bucks to end his career at GWS I for one won't begrudge him for going one little bit. It's not like you can say the guy didn't even try and win us a flag. I don't think he could have done a single thing more last year.

I agree.

And who the hell would want to play for a club with the colors orange, charcol and white?? Everything about Gold Coast looks pretty good, GWS however, are the opposite.
