only a couple more days to wait for the announcement

if he stays, lets get around him

if he leaves, lets move on as quick as we can

True. I hope he stays... but I worry about whether his standing at the club may have taken a hit... is this brinkmanship really captain-like behaviour?

Depends how the club has behaved I guess.

Hopefully Watters and BJ's relationship has not been affected, nor BJ's and the rest of the players. (On the assumption that he stays)

Oh, one more thing, I heard a Scott Watters grab in which he said... "the club have made Brendon an excellent offer... it's up to Brendon now... he has to decide if he wants to stay or go."

Im trying to take my hope of Goddard to essendon out of this post. But on previous posts someone said that the deal is roughly about $450,000 a year and some other posters have said its like they are trying to force Goddard out the door, would Watters saying that St Kilda have given Goddard excellent offer be a true statement or spin trying to make it look like the club have done everything possible to keep Goddard and if he leaves its all him hes bad and not us we are good(this assuming the 450,00 a year being true).

Also for some strange reason the longer this lasts the more i think he will stay with you guys, i just can't see Goddard going because the big names of the afl hardly swap clubs, take out Gold Coast and GWS signing players how often do the stars of the competition leave for another club?

If he stays i'll Run to Melbourne to the club. I can not see him staying, I'd be absolutely shocked if he decided to stay.7

Hasn't been free agency before I guess.

Saints have also had a few now. o_O

Over the years big names have swapped clubs, sometimes for change, clashes at the club, but predominately for money.

A couple I can think of early on a Sunday Morning:

- Ron Barassi - legendary Melbourne premiership player to Carlton as premiership winning captain coach
- Ian Stewart - dual Brownlow Medalist at Saints, to Richmond where he also won a Brownlow
- Peter Moore - Collingwood Brownlow Medalist, to Melbourne where he also won a Brownlow
- Tony Lockett - St Kilda Brownlow Medalist to Sydney
- Greg Williams - Sydney Brownlow Medalist to Carlton where he also won a Brownlow
- Barry Hall - Saints to Sydney as Premiership Captain
- Brad Hardie - Footscray Brownlow Medalist to Brisbane
- Kelvin Templeton - Footscray Brownlow Medalist to Melbourne
- Gary Ablett - Geelong Brownlow Medalist to Gold Coast
- Chris Judd - West Coast Brownlow Medalist to Carlton where he also won a Brownlow
- Ben Cousins - West Coast Brownlow Medalist to Richmond
- Alistair Lynch - Fitzroy to Brisbane
- Paul Roos - Fitzroy to Sydney

Once you start there are many stars and legends who have swapped teams over the years. I feel that this may become more and more common over the coming years with Free Agency.

Are Saints only now offering BJ $450,000??...Saints hubby is astounded that he wasn't already on this amount!...so am I...Seems like a poor amount to pay a loyal champ, when others at other clubs appear to be already on that amount, yet only half the player BJ is..

We are aware this is only a speculative amount.....just giving opinion on if true..

Sydney didn't let O'Keefe go even though he wanted to.

Only because Hawthorn wouldn't part with their first round draft pick. Drawing a long bow there.

Robbo on SEN Crunch time today stated that BJ has been offered a 3 year offer from St Kilda that "would make him the highest paid player at the club".

Seeing as though BJ isn't even the best player at the club that suggests to me that the club are in fact doing as you suggest...

Having said that Robbo did go on to say that the Bombers have offered 4 years... so perhaps that is the sticking point... but if so, surely a compromise can be reached?

Must be true then if it's one the radio.

You do realize we're not actually the ones paying him that? You're more than welcome to send the club a letter if they're your thoughts.

Brian, Brian, Brian. If you believe that the figure is $475,000 then good on ya, all the best. I would love to hear your thoughts as to what other players at the Saints would be on.
I don't think we need to be slagging off at each other on this board, we are all mates who love the Saints.
In regards to the quoted figure, why would BJ lie to me? He loves the club but I can tell you it's not as rosey as we would all like to believe. At the end of the day though, Im a Saints man but if Beej walks, which he will unless a miracle happens, then hopefully we win a flag before he does.
As far as guessing what other players are on, I don't play those games, I only like facts that we can discuss on here so that we are all informed.
