One thing about today's announcement does trouble me though:
  • "Potential to partner with other elite sporting organisations ad/or community groups"
What if Sharpless convinces his fellow board members that the Springfield Bee Keepers Association is a fantastic community group to partner up with?

I hear that Bob Sharpless, Angus Johnson and Cameron Milner have been instructed to go guard a bee in a jar while the new committee investigates alternatives to Springfield.

The amount of bee related humour in the Simpsons is ridiculous. I'll stop now though - there is legitimate stuff to discuss from that email.

Agreed - we need to focus on more pressing issues like whether it's true Bob Sharpless's garage is full of counterfeit jeans

More importantly - who has been made the head bee-guy?

I like this too - "Potential to partner with other elite sporting organisations ad/or community groups"

I believe sometime last year the Lions were in talks with the Roar about a joint training and administration base. However, the Roar have recently announced a partnership with the Strikers to develop new training facilities at Perry Park.

Maybe the Lions are looking at something similar with Morningside or UQ?

They seem to have close ties to the Firebirds too.

And are the Brisbane Bandits still around?

The Brisbane Bandits now play at Halloway Field in Newmarket. I've seen the Brisbane Bandits car drive around the area a couple of time and for some reason the licence plate is "RAMMED". I don't quite get it.

Bandits just took on a facility shared with some other sporting team ... can't recall exactly which one.

Heard they were upgrading Holloway Park at Newmarket. Not sure if another sporting team was involved. They are using the foul poles from the SCG MLB game earlier in the year.

Yes for their home ground they upgraded it again this year ... but I think for club/facilities they're sharing with another sporting team. I'll see if I can dig it up...

They played in Newmarket for the first time last year :( RNA was way cooler.

The proposed NRL expansion team, the Brisbane Bombers, has an agreement with Queensland Racing to develop Deagon into a training facility. Wonder if they could team up there? The Bombers bid is 50/50 at best so Lions could be left sole tenant anyway. Teaming up with another team is the way to go I reckon.

Boy, if this memo isn't a direct poke in the eye to many of existing Board I've never seen one.

In fact with such a direct repudiation of the approach to date, despite the figleaf of "changed circumstances" or whatever, I'd go so far as to say that their position is untenable, Sharpless' in particular.

Huge and apparently unreconcilable division in the Board. That's my take anyway.

Caveat on the ongoing search- if it was easy, it would have been done already. Anyway, it's refreshing that new eyes are in the hunt.

That's not how I read it Tassie.

I accept you have a different take on this, but I honestly don't see that there's any other way of reading it.

What does taking the matter forward without the involvement of the 3 Committee members originally involved mean other than they got it wrong [can't think of an alternative descriptor] first time around? How did they get it wrong? Why did they get it wrong? Is it that they were incompetent, or worse?

Just my interpretation.

Not that I don't think the new investigations aren't good- far from it.

If Swann can get us both Beams and a new, fully equipped, state-of-the-art training setup we will be forever in his debt, short term and long term.
