(If he is fully fit) I think we could still win with Tom likely not to win the rising star nomination in his first game. So if we can carry him at worst and still win it would be a great learning curve for him.

Why are people asking him to come back from serious injury quicker than Darce or Murph seem able to? Give the kid a break. Eade has made it pretty clear that he'll be in as soon as he's ready.

Drop Street and bring Tom in. He couldnt do any worse.

There's a fair argument there i think.

With so many passengers in the last two weeks, i'd rathe Tom be a passenger and be exposed to the AFL without expectation to perform than have another outside flanker refusing to get the hard ball and refusing to put in 100%.

Since we're carrying passengers, i'd prefer Tom than say <insert name here>.

Its a tough one and at times I think he couldnt do much worse than what some have put out on the park the last two weeks.

From what I hear Tom is a very popular person at the club and many players were saddened every time he had a set back with his injury and the severity of it.

The coaching staff will be the only judges of this but if morale is low amongst the group because of the last two weeks then the inclusion of Tom may have benefits other than his paying ability. It may galvanize the group.

I've got no argument with those of you who think that we can't keep playing two ruckmen who can't take a mark around the ground or even get to a contest most of the time. But our biggest hole is at CHF, I think. I don't want Tom being asked to play there when he hasn't been prepared to play that position. Neither do I have any confidence that any tall defender who could do the job can be spared from a defensive role just now. I think Hargrave and Wight could both play third tall down forward but neither would have experience presenting constantly which is what you have to do at CHF.

Remember when we first drafted Tom? Thinking was that he needed to learn the game, after being very new to it. He has hardly played since then. Just because injury replaced it as the main concern doesn't mean it still doesn't exist.

I really rate Tom, just be patient.

Why not give Doogs a go at Centre Half back, move Shaggy/Wight to CHF and slot tom into the 3rd tall defender position?

Wight has the motor for the position. Does Shaggy? Has either any recent experience playing there?

Obviously if we took your advice and things went wrong, Doogs could move back to the forward line. So we wouldn't be taking a huge risk. I suppose I'd just like to see some evidence that one of Wight or Shaggy would be something other than a hopeful longshot at CHF. Eade wants to play Wight as a mobile tall wingman or flanker further up field. Obviously, any marking and presenting target across half forward would take some pressure off Murph and help improve our structure.

I liked what I saw today of Williams, very athletic, agile and potentially will be a good player, but not quite yet. He still needs time at Werribee - perhaps in the second half of the season will see his footy smarts developed that bit more to play AFL standard.

No - rushing him in may seem create more problems than it would solve. Doogs needs more game time - two games is not enough to judge his capabilities on, he needs the support of the team as well. Two losses don't make a season.

It's not knee jerk to make changes.

It is knee jerk to bring Tom in prematurely.

We need to build up the confidence again, not grasp at straws.

Totally agree. Our guys can play - we need to focus on getting them doing just that - to bring in Tom too early with a weight of expectation on his back - may be more detrimental than good.
