Delayed concussion is a concerning development. Hope he's ok.

Gardiner straight in IMO.

Delayed can be a slow bleed build up.

Friend had a 2cm blood collection build up from a bleed recently which has disappeared without damage - he is fine.

He was told minor bleeds happen regularly and our bodies deal with them so we don't normally know about most of them. Depending on the location. And the bleed site being small enough that normal clotting stops bleeding.

Apparently drs seeing more because scans are more sensitive and GPs sending more people for screening b/C of improved sensitively.

Which is probably good for everyone but especially sports with concussion problems - higher sensitive = higher sit out rate and hopefully lower long term effects.

interesting

Adams is obviously a reference point for us

Equally Doedee had delayed concussion last week and is back this week

Vast majority of concussions are okay and i don’t think Payne has any history so let’s hope he is cherry ripe post bye

I reckon we have 5 players we can’t replace well from the 2s: Neale (cause he’s so good), Daniher (atm at least), Cameron, Andrews, Payne. We have okay depth in kpd in Lester and Payne but nobody for the really big forwards. Dunkley an honourable from that list but Bez is an okay replacement.

We are still only missing Rich and Payne so no excuses this weekend. Win the midfield battle well and we should win.

I think he copped a couple of brutal head hits from memory, Andrews one was the worst. Really bad news but hopefully this week plus the bye sees him good again.

Is Dizzy ready for a run, or we go Joyce?
Geez he has been unlucky with 'friendly fire', Linc virtually knocked him out in the Dogs semi a few years ago and now Harris got him. Did a couple of really good things after that knock by Harris, but also gave the ball to Harris that led to a 50 penalty and goal. Perhaps he was suffering from side effects during that 3rd and 4th Q's. Lets hope the lad is OK because a couple of those runs and kicks out of defence in the 3rd Q when he burnt King who is no slouch, showed he could be a v.good CHB as opposed to a lockdown fullback.

I believe Dizzy will come in this week.

Seems to me that the backs are getting more concussions then forwards eg McCartin boys, Keath, Adams, Payne etc

We have good depth all over the field except in one area being KPD.
I really hope Joyce is up to it if selected but i don't think he will be selected.
Joyce really has only played as the 3rd tall so not a great lot of pressure on him in that position.
Then got dropped.

Lucky in a way that Gardiner should now be ready and most likely comes in.
I think he has played 3 VFL games so not coming in without any gametime.

A game we are expected to win after some good wins against an okay team on their home deck.

Let’s hope our blokes aren’t big headed again and we just get the job done with no injuries. But can see a lions loss by 6 goals as a chance of happening.
So are you saying this is going to happen or not? a six goal loss? I could say a Brisbane win of 200 points is a ‘chance of happening’.

Injury List

Shadeau Brain (shoulder 3-4 weeks)

Can't see how we don't rush Gardiner and Rich back this week. Not what I'd want to do, but ultimately we can't play Joyce as our second key defender against their trio of talls.

Honestly I’d back Joyce in over Gardiner, I may be wrong but I think Joyce was actually a bit bigger than Darcy anyways.

Yes I am almost certain that is what we will do... my post was my thoughts and wishful thinking.

If Joyce was recruited as key position defence backup why not use him when one of our KPDs is out? I can not see the sense in that recruitment if we're not going to use it.

We can afford to give up a couple of extra goals as long as the midfield is firing. There is an element of good fortune in the fact that we got a few games into Joyce early on in the season, even if it is Gardner that comes in for Payne.

A good test of depth in perhaps the weakest part of our list.

Gardiner and Lester on Tex and Fog with Andrews dropping off to help out

That doesn't fill me with confidence at all. Gardiner and Lester would be two undersized KPPs and Andrews will lose his mind trying to do everything. If Thilthorpe plays he'll be handful as a lead up marking target as well.

Andrews has to play on Tex. He can't be the drop off player this time. Since Gardiner has been off pace for so long, this may not be the round for him. We have to go with Joyce for Fogarty.

Ultimately it is only big tex from their talls that we have to worry about. Their small and medium size forwards present the bigger headache. You'd think Dizzy back in is the logical swap. Hopefully Jackson is only out for the week and back for the Hawks.

Left field idea - Gunston plays KPD this week?

Bring in Fort up FWD or Ah Chee/Rayner play aerial FWD roles.

I think it's too big an ask for Dizzy as his first game back at AFL level.

The days of Gunston being able to play as a KPD are long past.

There is chatter that Riley Thilthorpe could come back in, he's pretty handy for a young KPF and is 202cm and 105kg, who goes to him if we assume Harris goes to Tex? If Harris takes Thilthorpe then who goes to Tex?

Gardiner has had 3 VFL games to get to a reasonable lever of game fitness.
Gardiner has been best 22 forever in a team that has been around the top 4 for years.
Gardiner over Joyce any day of the week for mine.

Gardiner: 192cm, 91kg, 154 games, 27 years 8 months
Joyce....: 194cm, 95kg, 18 games, 26years 1 month
