Is Tom Fullarton a chance to come in for Payne?

Playing forward now in the VFL but did have a couple of pre season hit outs down back, I can't recall if he played any early season games down back in the VFL.

I think he's finally getting decent form and I'm not sure we should mess with that unless it's critical

Not a bad idea. Especially if Thilthorpe and Walker are both back in.

Sounds like it will be Rich in for Coleman reading between the lines. You wouldn’t risk Coleman given his soft tissue issues in the past. I am in the camp of Rich being past his best but still handy. Maybe Kiddy can give him a pep talk re taking some risky kicks!

Gardiner has had 3 VFL games to get to a reasonable lever of game fitness.
Gardiner has been best 22 forever in a team that has been around the top 4 for years.
Gardiner over Joyce any day of the week for mine.

Gardiner: 192cm, 91kg, 154 games, 27 years 8 months
Joyce....: 194cm, 95kg, 18 games, 26years 1 month

Yeah not sure where the notion that Gardiner and Rich are rushed back is coming from. Rich is off the injury list entirely and Gardiner has played VFL the past two weeks.

I trust Gardiner more than Joyce, especially when it’ll be playing as the second tall. Tex is the same height as Gardiner and Andrews would go to Thilthorpe. That leaves Lester to go to Fogarty.

If Kiddy is out I’d prefer to have Rich in. Despite being slow he’s still a good defender and very damaging on the rebound.

Remember how everyone was shitting themselves in seasons past when we had Harris Andrews and Lachie Neale go down injured (not at the same time).

Then in those games we won because everyone lifted to help compensate?

Anyways, that's how it happened in my head (I might be wrong, but I thought we were undefeated when either of them didn't play).

Same thing will happen this week, the team will lift. Squads win premierships.

Edit: Rich, Prior, Madden, Gardiner, Joyce are all solid options. That's what happens when the VFL team is equal top of the ladder.

That’s disappointing for him- he finally gets a good run and it and he’s out with concussion. Thankfully we’ve the bye the week after so he can have a good rest. It will be interesting to see if Gardener’s fitness is up to speed or if they go with Joyce again.
We have a history of friendly fire of taking our own out. Off the top of my head - Cockatoo on McStay in a final, McCarthy on Payne n a final, Clark on Brown, although that was Brown's fault, was it one of our own that hit Adams last year to?

I don't think Rich would have played footy this week if Kiddy wasn't out. With that said, I think he'll be fine in terms of rust etc.

Dizzy should be able to play a role too, I'm just concerned with how he'll go on Thilthorpe. And Lester on Fog. It will be a big challenge for the back six if their mids get on top.

Nope, was the opposition.

Hasn’t exactly played well at the lesser level.

Gardiner also completely shut Jeremy Cameron out of the prelim last year (who was in as good form as he is now too), a lot of people seem to forget that. I mean it didn’t help the result, but he did his job very well.

He’s a much better player than a lot on here give him credit for, I think it’s rough to base opinions on the latter half of last year when a) the defence was pretty woeful last year, partly due to b) the team in general was lacklustre last year.

Rayner is a possibility if required.

Daniel Rich will return to face Adelaide on Sunday afternoon after missing three matches with a calf problem, which could be good timing as the Lions sweat on a fitness test for fellow half-back Keidean Coleman (glute). The delayed concussion suffered by Jack Payne means Chris Fagan will need to bring in another defender, against the tall Crows forward line with Darcy Gardiner, who has played two matches in the VFL after overcoming a frustrating start to the season, and Darragh Joyce to be considered. Kai Lohmann's seven-goal haul in the VFL ensures there's pressure coming from beneath, while Jarryd Lyons and Deven Robertson also continue to excel at the lower level. – Michael Whiting

Clarke on Brown, wasn't it the goose Maguire that collided into Brown in the off season .
Or is the Clarke another one brown copped.
btw love Goose , wonder how he's going.

Looks like changes will be needed, more than we've been accustomed to over the last half a dozen rounds.

Adelaide, with Walker, Fogarty and Tiltthorpe and Payne out, does Gardiner or Joyce or do both come in? Is Lester capable of handling a third tall role on Fogarty or Walker? I've said before that I believe Lester has been adequate in his performances. By that I mean he's done what a player of his experience should be able to do, often at great skill, but his pace has caught him out at times, late for or slips off tackles. Enough bogeys in his game to even out his birdies n eagles.

Kiddy likely to be out. With the bye coming up taking the opportunity to give him a cpl of weeks to mend n refresh is a good call. Rich available, but do we give him another week to be sure to be sure.

The defence is where most of the changes will be happening, I'm hoping whatever happens doesn't affect the cohesion and effectiveness of our back 6/7. If it does Adelaide's fwds could have a day and give us a run.

I think Sharpies run may have also run its course. Being subbed off last week speaks to some work needed back in the Vfl. Ah Chee to replace, he also gives us a bit more depth off hb if needed. Also gives us the opportunity to go another way with the sub. A mid/fwd, a tall, whatever fits the balance.

Hoping changes redirects focus to determination and pressure. I thought our pressure was a little more reactive than proactive last week, it gave the Suns the encouragement and ability to stick with us for 3/4 of the game. If we do that with the Crows, at home, the way they've been going and we could lose this one. Can't be counting the 4 points n be thinking of the bye here.

If switched on, hungry and focused we win this in a battle by 24.
