Brother Chad is at least rarely seen/heard from, which is probably a good thing! So much of what Kane and Graham Cornes come up with is embarrassing nonsense!since when is headline whore spelt ‘great’ ??

Thanks for making 100 posts on being against his contract yet you cant propose an alternative
There'll be no surplus $$ in that contract then
Quite a few posters must have seen the contract because they know all about itI didn't say I was against his contract. I said that brodie was saying how much he wanted to remain a Pie and how passionate he was, but it seemed that the club was taking all the risk with the contract. If you are to believe the so-called experts and he is going to be getting $1m for his last year when he's nearly 33, I said that any 33 year old in the league would be happy to sign a contract to play footy for $1m. I would suggest that if you asked the 700 players in the league now if they were happy to sign a contract right now to get $1m in their 33rd year, then I'd be suprised if anyone said no. I also wondered just how much more Brodie would get if he left the club. Would Adelaide pay $10m for 7 years? Would Port? I would think those are his only alternatives.
But these are just the figures that the experts said. What do they know? Brodie might have said that he wanted $750,000 for 7 years and it's starting to look more like a good deal - like he really gave up something to play for the Pies. So if someone has a copy of the contract, send it over and I'll tell you if i'm against it.

Always happy to have a good player locked in.
But I look at Sydney and the Franklin recruitment. They capitalised early but have suffered in recruitment and retainment since.
We need to win one or two Premierships NOW as this will be hurting us in four or five years,
Yes I did forget about Darcy Cameron from the NEAFL as being possible back up in 2020.Did you miss the trade period....
With Grundy's New Contract Ending in 2027
Doesn't the mean he got a 6 Year Extension?
I know. It's where I happen to live!! It's because of BS like those people produce that I rarely read Adelaide newspapers or listen to local radio stations! I don't have the hatred for the likes of Carlton, Essendon and Richmond that most Collingwood supporters seem to have, but I do really dislike the SA teams, simply because of the attitude that prevails here. It's an Adelaide thing

Out of the many dumb things I've done in my life, not moving to Melbourne (years ago) would be up there with the dumbest!
Oh well there's always the Rundle Mall...I know. It's where I happen to live!! It's because of BS like those people produce that I rarely read Adelaide newspapers or listen to local radio stations! What if Grundy left then others followed?I am ambivalent. I don’t know the dollars or contractual terms therefore cannot assess the full cost and risks involved.
I think Grundy is an exceptional player and glad we retained him. I just don’t think losing him would have necessarily been the end of the world. If fact it may have made us stronger if the picks and dollars were used to acquire a solid ruckman and another A lister.
Retaining Grundy only improves our changes of a flag if it doesn’t result in an overall drop in the quality of the entire list.
What if Grundy left then others followed?

Exactly he is our greatest ruckman ever and will end up probably the greatest ruckman to have played the game. No other ruckman can win his own ball like Grundy. He is a better mid than some others we put in the square.
Yep the greatest of all time tag is earned over an entire career - hopefully at least 7 years at the top to go yet. Also needs to add a little more to his already impressive resume.Yeah hang on, that is a massive massive call, that mantle - rightly - belongs to Graham Farmer. That guy revolutionised the whole ruck position and by extension probably the game.
Yeah Grundy is a unique player probably the likes the game will never see again - no doubt. Possibly the greatest ruckman for a generation maybe two but not for all time.
Anyways happy to have him signed on, keeps our slim window open.
You've got to love Kane Cornes' little salty cry in this morning's press.
AFL great Kane Cornes reacts to Brodie Grundy’s monster deal
Of course Kane is very concerned for Collingwood!
Grundy doesn't seem to spend his weekends with half of Colombia up his nose so might last a bit.
He makes a fair argument. Hopefully either his assessment of a ruckman's value is incorrect or we improve in other key positions to give us greater competitiveness all over the field. It was a damned if you do damned if you don't sort of situation. I only hope we are able to satisfy the needs of De Goey and Moore.Sport Thought: Is signing Grundy for seven years too big a risk?
Collingwood's decision to give ruckman Brodie Grundy the seven-year deal he desired is worth debating.www.theage.com.au
So here is another discussion being opened up about the worth of Grundy.
This writer rates midfielders and forwards above ruckmen.
