Not gonna lie, little sad to see him go.. much the same as Treloar.. both seemed to love the club.
If only he and his manager didn't take advantage of Eddie's sentimentality and bend us over a barrel to sign a ridiculous contract.

He demanded the world and that's why he finds himself leaving the club.

Going to be odd seeing him in the navy blue and red but best of luck to him.
See this is what I don't get about all the hysteria when the Treloar trade happened. Whilst he didn't have as big a contact he still had a pretty good one, yet no one was saying this about poor ol Adz.

I don’t think he’ll have a good year next season. Coming of a PCL and ankle fracture. Last 2 season his marking has been very ordinary.

At his peak he was worth 950k because he was a midfielder as well as a ruckman. He hasn’t been that the last 2-3yrs.

Like Treloar it’s the right decision but a terrible trade return. Gee we wouldn’t want to be paying more than 100k getting only 27 back.
unfortunately we'll probably never know the truth about how much we are paying. IMHO I don't think we're paying $300k - but I doubt if we're only up for $100k. But what do I know!?

Didn't he back-end his deal to give us flexibility?

😂 Yeah?

Korda was vice president on the board that signed the 7yr deal for Grundy.. which has basically lead to us losing him because it was too much for too long.

Maybe you should be across the facts before commenting in future 🤣🤣🤣

No need to reply.

Wow, how quickly can you run away from it being his financial role within the club that merited his inclusion in the hall of shame. Now it's just that he was on the board. Seems a few others have survived there as well. Didn't notice you'd included them anywhere.

Can completely understand why you'd prefer I not respond. It's not working out well for you. I'll leave it there.

Yeah it was a bit telling when he was quoted as not wanting to leave Melbourne after ‘the lure of Adelaide‘ at negotiation time.
Yep. Held it over us to milk as much cash as he could out of his contract - all was a lie. Would do well on Wall Street and lots of idiots will say 'good on him' - but im just seeing a team second, money hungry viper. And given my first love is Collingwood and not individual players getting rich, I'm off him and his type tbh

What about Walsh football manager

Lol. Very emotive language.

Why should players not do best for themselves, yet clubs should? Can't have it one way without the other nowadays

Chances are that when too many players 'do best for themselves' teams don't. As mentioned I'm a Pies fan, I don't barrack for overwhelming pay checks for undeserving players.

Sure, but it's the logical consequence of teams treating players like cattle.

There does seem to be a contradiction in Grundy.

On the field, no one worked themselves harder in trying to get the team over the line.

But it is hard to deny that he used his leverage to squeeze everything he could from the club, in circumstances where it must have clear that his demands were harmful to list management.

Our management acquiesced and let the harm be done, so ultimately it's on them, but --while I think that 'money hungry viper' is harsh-- the situation was a response to Grundy's bloody-mindedness.

So what's your point exactly? As mentioned, I'm a Collingwood supporter and want Collingwood to succeed. Grundy and his ilk are detrimental to that wish. It's an emotional reaction, not a 'fight for the rights of the players to get rich cause the clubs as just as bad' one.

No ultimately it's on both of them, not just the club.

Agree with the rest.

My point is that it's silly to not hold the club to a similar standard, and that it's detrimental to Collingwood success

What exactly is detrimental to Collingwood(s) success?

What standard are you proposing we hold the club to?
Forcing players out because contracts WE gave them become too much. It is poor asset management.

The standard of decent list management. See: Geelong

Farewell Brodes, you will be missed. I remember the exultation on the day you slipped to our pick, a genuine ruckman for the first time in so long… and you lived up to the billing. So close in 2018, and I still don’t know what that last quarter free against you was for, which kept us from breaking the elastic.

Respect.

Treloar was poor management and I was similarly angry at the club for letting it happen. Grundy on the other hand was Wolf of Wall Street material.

How? We're the ones who signed him to a silly deal, and now we're the ones accepting 10c on the dollar with that shit trade.

How what exactly? Yes the club f*cked up in signing him to that deal, granted, but it seems you’re only focussing on the idiocy of the club of making a poor choice when backed into a corner. I freely admit that and it pisses me off, but am equally angry at the other half of the deal making, which you seem to freely support or excuse.
