Oppo Camp Brodie Grundy (Traded to Melbourne 2022)

Reckon they'll be top 4 and we'll be 6-12. So yeah, chickens will probably come home to roost. Half this board will claim they were always against the trading of Grundy and knew it was a bad idea while they go back and delete their old posts. Love it.

Yea really unfortunate to see Grundy go. But if you had to choose between a Grundy and a Mitchell, they're both elite talents in their position (Mitchell having shown a higher ceiling) and Mitchell is probably a better fit given our lack of clearance mids.

Would've preferred to choose Grundy and not chase McStay though. Grundy tapping to Mitchell would've been a weapon for our clearances. If we needed a low output key forward, we could've gotten away with a Weideman/Schache for cheap. Wouldn't be that different to McStay.

So, the fact that we were 1 kick from a GF with a banged up, undersized team and have now added all the depth we require to go to the next level isn't enough for you? I won't be deleting any old posts about Grundy because he's done **** all for 3 years. I think we will win the flag next year not finish 6-12.

That is actually true but clearly the club feels that ruckmen should not be paid in the same bracket as bull mids like Jordy.

Yea it's clearly a decision where the new coaching and list management department don't value him.

But posters blaming Grundy like he was responsible for leaving the club by signing a big contract is unnecessarily undermining a loyal servant. He was the best ruckman in the game at the time, super durable and wholly deserving of being paid $900k-$950k when you have JDG earning $800k for potential. Other top ruckman in Gawn, Nic Nat and now Jackson are on more than that and Grundy, even below his best last two years, has provided better output than all those names except for Gawn.

Grundy was (and probably still is) a Collingwood man through and through and we shouldn't crap on his legacy just because our new regime is making some harsh calls to rebalance our list.

If we want to crap on players leaving the club, it should be sooky Henry not Grundy. He's handled himself with class all the way (and even much better than Treloar through the exact same situation). Hoping Grundy has a great remaining career and proves our list management wrong.

That's weird. i reckon the ladder positions will be reversed, but carry on

lol did you feel the same way about Tarrant when we pushed him out to freo? Or Heath Shaw and Cloke?

There's scum ex-players like Daisy, Beams, Nick Davis and Ollie Henry. And then there's ex-players that were all class and will always be Collingwood legends.

They're all scum to me unless they came back to us, don't get me started on that bastard Henry

I bet you any money Melbourne will re-build his body to be a power athlete rather than an endurance beast. They will improve his leap and acceleration. This was the reason for his downfall at Collingwood.

Time will tell, but in next couple of years we will lose a lot of stars -- Pendlebury, Sidebottom, Howe, for starters - or see the decline in others -- Adams, Mihocek, etc.

I think almost everything went right for us this year.

But yep, carry on.

As I've mentioned before, the decline in our stars, the loss of Grundy, and the fact almost everything went well for us this year, means that we'll likely drop away. Hope not, but think we will.

my good name on BF is too important to me to take risks by not deleting inaccurate posts.... i usually change my nick name at least once a year to leave my past behind...it's a large price to pay but i've sunk the boot into grundy on too many occasions and i would be humiliated if he was to prove to be successful....of course, if he is, I will be laying into the club and graham wright for making such a horrendous decision.

The loss of Grundy? We had an unprecedented run of close victories without Grundy and for the most part Henry. We have added better quality to our list. Bobby Hill and Mitchell replace the Brown brothers and McStay and Frampton replace McMahon. The decline in our stars? Good players are playing well into their thirties now and few are as fit or professional in their preparation as Pendles and Sidey. Why the gloom and doom? McRae and his assistants have proven themselves to be very good coaches who have connected with the players and brought a freshness and enthusiasm which has been missing for some time. I don't get it.

Wouldn't it be cool if next year's season opener is Collingwood Vs Melbourne?
Even cooler if it was Collingwood v Geelong with Henry selected to play with our heavyweights primed to hit him hard at every contest and our supporters with their loudest boos at the ready..

I’d rather just put Nick D on him, running off him at every opportunity, setting up a goal spree….leaving Scott benching him for the rest of the day after quarter time.

Not me.

And we’ll finish between 3-7. And I sure as hell won’t be crying over Soy Latte Boy.

They have the technology. They can rebuild him……

Out of all those you mentioned. Only Pendles can hold his head up as a vital need. For the time being. More so for his on ground leadership.

Sidey and Howe are done. Adams barely played fully fit all year. And Mihochek is so banged up he needs the Steve Austin rebuild.

So none of those other than Pendles is really needed. Adams will be happy to have Mitchell take the heat off him and Mihochek can rest easy knowing he won’t be the only gorilla banging packs.

Another year refining our game plan and getting more games into Ginni, McCreery, McInnes will serve us greatly.

And the new boys will add depth to our 22. Which is always a good thing.

So stop being a chicken little. The sky didn’t fall when we lost Soy Latte Boy this season. It sure as hell won’t fall now that he is at the Dreamons.

Soy Latte Boy. What does that mean? What the f*** is the implication of it?

Please. Make it make sense. I want to understand you, Ron.

The pejorative usually relates to softness, which isn't something you'd associate with Grundy on a football field (i.e. where it counts) or in a negotiation.

It's like the other day, when you said that Brodes had never played decent football. On the face of it, such a comment is completely divorced from sanity, reality and common sense, but I know that you're onto something.

Don't be cryptic with your wisdom. Bring us simpletons along with you. Take us to your planet.

Zero chance. Slow twitch athlete with short, chunky legs, and a poor straight line tank. Quality guy though, and v hard to displace in boundary throw ins…

I hope he sooks it up at Geelong when he doesn't get picked in the first few weeks. Hopefully his negative traits come to the fore down at the Cattery.
