Question is....what do you really want
Put it this way, you're Port Adelaide and Bryce Gibbs says he wants to join the club. Do you say no? I'm sure they would find a way to get him in with some help from us.
We won't be paying his entire contract and I live a straight edge life style. Son.
He actually nearly ended up at Adelaide funny enough.....decided to go with Tambling instead thoughDidn't Walker seek a trade a few years ago? Didn't seem to affect his relationship with the other fellas when it didn't come to fruition.
Or am I mis-remembering?
Fox guys speculating Gibbs for this year's first rounder and next year's second.
Supposedly we want either of Cameron & McGovern, but they ain't budging.
Mate no offence I have not been on BF that long, but do you know this or are you dreaming it up?As previously stated:
The Gibbs deal will get done and it will be overs, even for a player of his age and talent. It will be done Monday/Tuesday
We will retain pick 5, while obtaining at least 3 players from GWS

Adelaide to play in the SANFLQuestion is....what do you really want
If Tom Mitchell is essentially worth pick 14 then I think 13 for Gibbs is about right
Ok here is what we know
Adelaide desperately want Gibbs
Port cant afford Gibbs
We want 1 of crows youngster Cameron, McGovern or Crouch boys
Adelaide dont want to give up any of their young talent but more to the point none of them want to come to Carlton.
Question is based on the above would we accept 2 first rounders and maybe a 2nd rounder for Gibbs?
Goreds was pretty much telling you that the window for the rebuild is smaller than you thought. Stop thinking beyond 2020, and start thinking before and you'll be less furious about us wanting more than #13 and some glitter for one of our best players.
The Age floated that we were after Lang or Cockatoo, he simply pointed out that Lang was the only one Geelong engaged in a serious discussion about, but he's supposedly not interested at the moment.
He's just not that good dude, and some of us have been pointing it out all year. He might even be worth less than 14 depending on the pick swaps that occur (I'd suggest the Hawks are looking to secure higher picks to replenish their list in a midfield heavy draft).
You've had another go at me here so I'll be clear: I'm only questioning the truth of the rumour, because it sounds plainly dumb for SOS to be chasing people all over the country during trade week. This is 2016 and people are a perfectly secure phone call away.
Further to this, SOS does modelling of all players in the AFL, and several other leagues. He had a valuation for Gibbs the minute the idea of this kind of trade popped into his head. What he may not have had is contact with Adelaide in a timely fashion, and contact with player agents over their willingness to be a part of a deal.
That's the only concern, and frankly for a 4th tall in their forward line or a midfielder who is getting replaced to reject us is them (or Adelaide) not facing reality. We get in the ball park of what we want or Bryce doesn't go, which seems to be the mood from both the club and Bryce's camp.

They might not want/need/have the cap space for him. If they wanted him, they would have flagged their interest by now.
What's not to understand?

Walker, Thornton, Russell. All stayed and played to the best of their ability. 2 if them were actually put into the leadership group afterwards.
We don't have the forwards. Harry McKay is unknown. We are about eight midfielders short. The backline is about the only place that we have sorted.
Murphy and Simpson are on the way out. We have to stock up on the next three drafts with as much talent as we can.
This is all about trying to facilitate family pressures, but there's more than one way to address that. I doubt his partner would begrudge another 2-6 years in Melbourne when she sat down and thought about it, especially if there's career success for Bryce.Walker didn't tell them all to stay and stick it through and then decide to leave 2 years in to a 5 year deal. Different situation.
He's contradicted himself.
McKay is not an unknown, simply yet to debut. They've had him in the club for 12 months and have seen how he adapts to what's asked of him. We absolutely have the forwards for 2 years from now, with Ben Silvagni coming in then too.We don't have the forwards. Harry McKay is unknown. We are about eight midfielders short. The backline is about the only place that we have sorted.
Murphy and Simpson are on the way out. We have to stock up on the next three drafts with as much talent as we can.
I won't be too fussed, although disappointed. But the thing I wonder about is how the club and Bryce will be scrutinised and lambasted in the media as being a shitshow if, after all this, he ends up staying. You can imagine all the big headlines and discussions with Slobbo on AFL360 - "Is there inner turmoil between Gibbs and the Blues?" "Have Carlton recovered from a poor situation only to have egg on their face" etc. It will be tripe, but it will be talked about nonetheless, and despite it ultimately having very little to no bearing on the club internally, it's another thing to shit the fans off with.
Negative comments about Gibbs leaving are easy to smack down - question marks if he says he wants to and doesn't will be a ****ight.
It's a peach (no, really). That's an apple Jim

I agree, which is why he'd be taking meetings in Melbourne.I think SOS is smart enough to know where he should be is the only point I was making - sorry if you found that to be offensive.
Or rather, Bryce hasn't flagged any interest and so they haven't bothered.

Reckon we just sit tight and wait for the Cows to blink.

Shouldn't be, but since when does the media let an opportunity to sink the boots in pass?Shouldn't be a reflection on Carlton. We are showing strength. Adelaide have nailed their reputation to the mast over this since they announced it, are broadly thought to need a quality mid to win a flag but hadn't checked to see what the asking price was before announcing it.
