Traded Bryce Gibbs [traded to Adelaide] - (cont. in Part 2)

I'm not sure this can get done. I can see Carltons point and if for example sloane said he wanted to leave next year and was under contract we would demand 6 years of first round picks. Crows on the other hand should not over pay as it is risky to try and buy a flag by givin away your future. It's easy for teams like hawthorn who have won flags to recruit for needs as they already have the cups behind them there isn't as much risk/pressure. If I was in crows list management my strategy would be aimed solely at GWS and making them want our pick 13 for marchbank. Carlton would be silly to give up pick 5 for him and no way he is going for their second round.

From the AFL website - draw was based on opponents number of wins from previous year.

Yeah that was based on 2015 teams, no relevence to difficulty of 2016 Freo was a power in 2015 and a basket case in 2016. Redo that table based on 2016 wins see where it lines up

Ummmm...the strength of the draw for 2016 is based on teams performance in 2015. 2017 draw will be based on 2016 performance.
Not one so called expert had us in the top 8 based on our draw yet we won a final again and should've finished top 4.
And I cbf re doing the table but id say it wouldnt change much.

Pick 13 + Brad Crouch for Gibbs + 2017 2nd round pick (pick 20'sh) + pick 44

If Gibbs moves it will take a trade of that type of magnitude

You realise that's insane, right?

A youngster who was a top 3 pick, versus a 28yo who never lived up to his potential? Crouch might have 8-10 years of top line footy ahead of him - Gibbs; 3-5, if he's lucky.

If you want Crouch, it'd be your second and Gibbs - and we still wouldn't do it.

I'm being serious. Gibbs is a top player under contract and is worth a high pick and player
Would Gibbs even be a top 50 player in the comp? I actually think i could make 2 top 50s without jotting his name down, and he's 27, he isn't going to get better, pick 13 alone does it for me, Crows don't need to pay anymore than that, but i could understand Carlton not wanting to let him go for that due to sentimental value FWIW.

Funny you say I'm delusion for a deal that will happen

Fact 1. You will give Blues pick 13
Fact 2. You will include a player in the deal
Fact 3. It's not just me saying it, its many other Blues supporters
I agree that will be the deal but it won't be either of the Crouch brothers Milera Lever McGovern Cameron it will be another young player which the blues will suddenly talk up most likely CEY. At most a future 2nd MAY be included.

Adelaide will get it done, it won't be cheap though. What will it do to our future rep in trying to get a player in if we commit to them, they commit to us and we fail to get it done?

You don't have the midfield depth of GWS, The Bulldogs or Sydney; in fact, you're way off it.

This is a massive opportunity.

I don't think you can build anything meaningful by perpetually paying overs or accepting unders. I highly doubt we'll be banking on Gibbs bringing us a flag and allowing you guys to cash in on our perceived closeness. There seems to be a significant amount of Carlton posters suggesting that we should be happy to overpay because he's our missing link. I feel they're thinking of the other West Horsham club. Can't recall too many overpriced players turning a nearly there club into a premiership side. Try Brisbane as well, Noble is there now.

I hope for everyone posting in this thread's mental health that this deal gets done tomorrow.
Unlikely to happen before the last day, its not in Carlton's interests to do anything but wait and see how high Adelaide will go.

Give them 5 mins tomorrow, then don't speak to Adelaide again until the trade period is over or they give what we asked for.

You are right but the argument centers around what each group of supporters see as fair value.

Interesting that if the Adelaide Advertiser is correct, Adelaide OPENED with pick 13 and Lyons, which we apparently scoffed at...so that kind of shows where his value is at. If they opened with that offer chances are they are willing to give a bit more, to meet us in the middle as per most negotiations.
.

That shows what Carlton thinks his value is at....If the Tiser reports are true (don't forget the chief footy writer for the Tiser said that Gibbs wouldn't happen just 2 hours before it was announced he wanted to move, so i wouldn't always believe what they say...)

Doesn't mean it will end there either. The teams will negotiate until both sides are happy. It's pretty simples :) We can all talk on here as much as we want (well it is a forum) but we think is best value for us and vice versa means jack all really, its just fun and games and i don't think represents true value

Wow. Not the most mature way to deal with it. Or the smartest. Both parties will have an open line of communication to facilitate a deal that works for all. It's really not hard and the clubs are far more professional than doing what you suggested they should

Lol, neither crouch is going anywhere!
