Traded Bryce Gibbs [traded to Adelaide] - (cont. in Part 2)

That is 100% ok with me. I like my picks.
Lever, Milera our recruitment guys arent dunces, we ain't going to burn that pick.

If those are fair deals, what should have we got for Danger? 3 x first rounder? lel
Danger was a restricted free agent. You guys chose the trade rather than matching the offer from Geelong. They had you over a barrell and royally screwed you.
...and still are screwing you.

Gibbs has 3 years left to run on his contract....3 years!

It's not a case of Adelaide saying, "It's ok Bryce stay for another year and we'll pick you up for nothing",...Bryce will stay for 3 years!! He'll then be 31, and unlikely to leave, but who could blame him then if we've had no success?

If you want him, you'll pay as much if not more than Geelong did for Danger. Yes it hurts and i would be livid if we were in the same situation as you. Losing a player for not much who goes on to dominate.
...oh wait!!

Pay up or we'll keep him. He's professional enough to do the right thing and play to his abilities.
Remember, he probably really doesn't want to leave

So you would prefer pick 16 than a top 5 pick?

My post was in response to a poster who basically said to cut off all communications to Adelaide, which is just so professional.

Gibbs' partner wants to return home, so this will get done.

Since when does she call the shots for the Carlton Football Club? You're dead set kidding yourself if you think the club will offload Gibbs for anything unsatisfactory for the sake of making her happy.

Where did I say anything about unsatisfactory trading? Do you guys actually read what you are replying to.

I very much doubt you will keep a player who wants to return home as you will lose value (refer gws & freo trade today) & the players union will give you heat.

And we trade Adelaide's 2017 first rounder for the GWS package and take #5, #13, #24 to the draft this year.

This would be the best outcome for us imo.

We just can't trade pick #5 to them.

Crows finish 5th again next year and that pick will be close to top 10 in value to them with the 20% discount. They can keep Kennedy and Corr.

Crows 2017 1st for Marchbank, Stewart and Pickett is a fair enough deal.

We've just got to demand those 2 first rounders from the Crowbots.

Gibbs + #42 for #13 + 2017 1st puts Gibbs at around #5-#6 in value (maybe a bit too much but then again he is contracted for 3 more years)

Gibbs + #24 for #13 + 2017 1st puts him at around the pick #10 mark.

Highly unlikely that Gibbs will pull a McCarthy with 3 years left buddy. Gibbs did say he's willing to go if an agreement can be made. Maybe you didn't actually read that part.

You said that she wants to go home so the deal will get done. That clearly implies that we will eventually have to cave in for an unsatisfactory deal.

The deal will get done does not imply we intend on screwing the blues with a poor deal.

I said it will get done because clubs usually do the right thing in personal circumstances... & our clubs have a good relationship.

Stop jumping to conclusions & inferring completely different things to what I'm positing!

You said she wants to go home so the deal will get done. I'll ask again, since when does she control the Carlton Football Club?

We have him on a lucrative contract and will not be doing her bidding we will do what's best for our club. Now if she gets the shits over us not coming to terms with any offer we find unsatisfactory then bad luck for her.

You obviously have never been a compassionate person.

It's never a good idea to hold people against their will.

Circumstances change like they have here with the baby.

The deal will get done despite your posturing.

Jesus, he has been with us for 10 years. It is hardly Guantanamo.

Compassionate? LOL this isn't a case of him or her having a sick parent in Adelaide they need to be with/care for.

She wants to move back because she can't handle raising a kid on her own. Cry me a river.

Like I said earlier, we have a football club to run here, not a circus. He is contracted for 3 more years and we are not happy with his decision to begin with.

The deal will get done if we are satisfied with what Adelaide offers. End of story.

Except Marchbank is uncontracted and GWS need to burn players from their list and salary cap space. Carlton offers them both
Pick 5 won't be used
Was reported today Silvagni has already said no to a fringe play and pick 13.
Crows fans may not like it and it may not happen, but Gibbs is contracted for 3 more season. Carlton won't deal unless the deal favours us

Good I hope you enjoy having a player there that has indicated he wants out.

How is the last 10 years relevant to his changing circumstances?

Compassion and holding someone against their will. I mean they had set up a pretty sweet life in Melbourne. They do have the means to go back to Adelaide regularly. It's not as though the kids will be grown up in 3 years time. This isn't an illness. It's the mother of his kids wanting her parents to see more of their grandchildren.

How many more player situations might this apply to?

Word was that he was happy to stay but if we could try to work out a deal that would be good. Let's not pull out the violin every time you guys want to tell us to be reasonable and accept what you find disposable.

Whatever you say tough guy...

Basically it is a reverse Dangerfield scenario.

If players want to get home, they will get home eventually...regardless of what supporters think.

And Geelong would have done whatever they could to get him there. Crows though ... all first rounders are equal so you get a later one and maybe a fringe player or next year's second rounder in the late 30s. Oh and while you contemplate how barren your midfield is Carlton, show some appreciation for the deal we barely raised a sweat offering.

Doedee untouchable

:tearsofjoy:
7 years until free agency ;) :tearsofjoy:

Yep. We had a couple of players that'd been cut to make cap space if we had to pay extra to secure him as a Free Agent.

In this instance, with 3 years left on a contract Carlton hold all the power. SOS should be hung from the West Gate if he doesn't take full advantage of that.

He's not at GWS any more where they can drop a round 1 pick and not even bother to pick it up they're so laden for talent. If Gibbs is to leave in 2016 it should be a good offer... or he should be told in no uncertain terms R1 you're wearing the #4 of the Navy Blues.

They're used to dealing with our former management where they picked up sauce and Betts for a packet of chips. They even thought they were screwing us over for Menzel with #28 + Kerridge.

Now they want to try again. SOS is too smart for them.

This entire thread is dumb.

Gibbs has stated his desire to return to Adelaide. Happy wife, happy life and all that.

Clubs, generally, don't hold players against their will. Trades are made. Everything else is just posturing and chest beating.

The Crows will pay and pay fairly, its what we do.

It will need to be 2 first rounders or 1st
Rounder and player of quality.

Will be the former I believe with a 2nd rounder going back to the crows.

Contrary to belief contracts do mean something, we don't just have to accept whatever we are offered or fear the wrath of Gibbs

So, Treloar level compensation? Sorry but Gibbs is barely a top 50 mid in the league with established ceiling and little upside.
