The club may have had a slightly different plan but no point getting angsty. Looks good to supporters and potential coaches for the club to be seen as both decisive and mutually respectful and the timing doesn’t really matter.

Like when Laidley finished, I feel grateful for the good times with a coach who will always be part of North Melbourne history, and excited to move out of the doldrums and see what comes next. Also think the rest of this year, like 2009, can throw up some fun games.

If he has gone to the media behind the club's back, the club can not let him coach tomorrow.
It's a really difficult position because the club wants to respect the 9.5 years service, not upset the players and staff by not having him just disappear and not have Brad play the victim card to Robbo or whoever in the media if we were to boot him tomorrow morning. And they've got to deal with Kelly on an ongoing basis with respect to players or coaches he represents. But based on his petulant stunt, he deserves to be booted tonight.

That’s what I have hated. Back the coach - he is working as hard as he can to get a flag. The hours a coach does would be twice the hours most people put in to their jobs. The North job is not an easy one. We don’t have big crowds to play in front of. It’s why Lynch went to the Tigers, Trelour to the Pies etc.

I am thankful and wish him all the best.
Mate he's been a great servant of the club. No doubt he gave his heart and soul to the club.
No one can claim otherwise.

But he's been a very one dimensional coach, due to inexperience and a lack of direction by the club, he wasn't helped by the board. They could have employed an experienced director of football (Balme) type. Or beefed up our assistance with experience.

He was inflexible, never innovative ,never creative.

IMO aside from his inability to be a coach inline with trends, there seems to be a serious lack of accountability in the playing group.

You will see this with our next coach.
A new coach will shake up the leadership group.
Favourites will be playing VFL until they hit some form
There will be new roles for some of our players.

And at least 20 players on our list will be playing for their careers.

PC - Wild Bill has been an apologist for Bard since the start - one of those on here who couldn't get past Bard's great sales ability. 'He made 2 prelims.. he is one of the greatest coaches of all time...we are all waiting for the next contract extension...'

WB backed Bard all the way and in the end Bard was what Bard is - an average coach with major deficiencies but with great media ability.

WB bought as much snake oil as Bard could peddle.
& I honestly get it. I have read Bills posts through gritted teeth. He has been noble and he has backed & trusted the club. But sometimes blind faith is just blind.

Yeah with Umpire Maggots leading the charge. :stern look
But having the so called best kick in the league kick around the corner after Goldy delivered to him on a platter. The snorters just setup across half back too easy. Thanks NDS.

There is absolutely no difference - the agent is the mouthpiece of the client - this has the full approval of Bard - he is 100% complicit.

Not necessarily accurate.

It is an agent's responsibility to act in the best interests of their client. There's every chance the agent took a risk by leaking it without clearing it with Brad, and the risk has backfired.

All I'm saying is this situation is not black/white, and you shouldn't expect the club to knee-jerk react accordingly.

Same GK. And a lot of it has to do with money and a payout figure possibly. Mate also says Shaw as caretaker so if they are talking about that, days are numbered.
PC - just wondering what your mate's view is on the leaking of all this and how it's likely to play out?

Good post AS - in the end cooler heads will prevail and Bard will be allowed to coach his last game.

But we can all see what the problem has been - Bard arrogantly running the show - accountable to no one.

The Board and the club (including supporters) can't be so naive next time into thinking that employees of the club are there ..for the benefit of North Melbourne...

This is a professional business and people are there to manage their own careers, to manage their brand and self promote. This is even more the case when ultimate success is lacking as it has been for North Melbourne under Bard.

I find it bizarre if the club or Brad thinks this wasn’t going to come out. People tell people who tell people. It amazes me how amateur-ish a professional sport can be at times. You would have to be delusional to think people don’t open their mouths. Keeping it to the bye was never going to work for anyone. I’m surprised it didn’t come out Tuesday TBH.

Clearly time for a change but anyone potting Brad’s work over the last decade needs their head examined.

Yes, it’s ended badly, as all coaching tenures do, but Brad’s done a heroic job. Not only taking an middling list to consecutive prelims, but the publicity side of the role that is required with a small club should not be understated. And let’s not forget the questionable performance of the rest of the footy department.

Deserves to leave with his head held very high. Hope the Saints like him too ;-)
