I have finally decided to employ my own psychological 'stop loss'.

My plan is to officially 'lose faith in Brad' when Carlton go past us.

I resented the Bulldogs when they did it.
I still can't really believe the Tigers did it.
I almost predicted the Bombers would do it this year.
I have always been willing to give the interstate sides a pass for some reason.
I don't even care about St Kilda.

But Carlton? When they beat us, and Brad trots out his usual cliches and motherhood statements, then that will be it.

I will ECO until Euge makes the hard call :stern look

That is what pisses me off the most but I am not going to pin that soley on Brad as we have a team that does it even though Brad has the biggest say.

You're a loyal staunch young fella Jindrrk, so I am going to make the effort to educate you about something where your lack of years might betray you.

Do you know what ultimately wins premierships? Administrations.

James Brayshaw truly deserves the accolades for saving this club 20 years ago, but ultimately he is also the primary source behind the soft, accommodating club we have become that is holding us back.

The current regime simply lacks the ruthlessness to deliver the ultimate prize.

Ask yourself this, how would have Alistair Clarkson reacted to today's debacle?

Getting to the pointy end and the wheels are falling off for a few clubs. Melbourne, Saints, Port all disappointed.

Another year and The Vortex is calling us all.

I rate Brad. I think he's an excellent coach but we need to take our medicine. We need quality through the draft or trade.

We need to get coaches who develop our players. I think we're on the right track with two big recruitments recently - Alex Moore and Glenn Luff.

This comes down to our general strategy and points to Cameron Joyce.

He's been with us for 10 years and 4 months. 1 year 10 months in the role of GM. 1 year and 10 months ago Brent Harvey, Nick Dal Santo, Drew Petrie and Michael Firrito were shown the door. The overarching strategy has been set by Cameron Joyce, not Brad Scott. Brad Scott chooses from the players available and does the best he can... and from the talent we have available I think he does a great job.

The Geoff Walsh/Bryce Lewis controversy continues in the background but both are now gone. This is a clean start with Scott/Joyce/McMahon. I look to all three and don't think Scott is the weak link there. We have to give Cameron Joyce a go as we're 2 years into this experiment but time is ticking...

5 years ago kangatime created the first BBB thread and it's still every bit as pointless as the first four. I fully expect to see a 10th, 15th or even 20th BBB thread before the idiot comes to realisation that he has no idea about football, he is better off supporting St. Kilda or Carlton, so at least true North Melbourne supporters don't have to read his insipid dribble every time we have a loss.
I would football all over the stupid arse.

This board was just about sucking Brad off over how the club was overachieving a few months ago! Considering the fact we were widely thought to be a bottom 4 side, I'm of the (apparently unpopular) opinion that Brad is doing a good job.

Sure, there have been some strange decisions made (such as Preuss constantly being overlooked for selection), but the fact that we lost today has got to do with the players, and the players only. Some of the effort displayed by certain individuals was deplorable when they had everything on the line in the game.

Hanging shit on the coach for this outcome is a ******* cop out, and deep down, you know it.
Read the op and piss of to the kudos thread

Enough is enough. 5 year’s a go I started the first BBB thread and nothing has changed. We’ve lost another game after being 5 goals up, despite the easy fixes.

The snakeoil that he spews has been bought but many one here but I’m hoping they are starting to see. The building for the short, mid and long term just hasn’t been done and Scotts hasn’t been able to develop our young players.

What annoyes me most is the lack of accountability our players seem to have. It’s as rare to see the word omitted on our Thursday team sheets, unless of course you’re a first year player.

Now if you’re still thinking Scotts is the man then piss of to the Kudos thread and talk up how he’s coach of the year, but if you’re like me and want him gone then this is the place for you. AND the best thing is Gaso has me on ignore so he won’t fill up this thread with his typical combination of dribble and cat gifs.

Totally agree I was p&ss off when they sighned him for another two years, you are right in every thing you have mentioned above the bloke rewards mediacrocity by playing the same poor performers.
He mentioned a couple of weeks a ago that he wished he could a played Majak Daw a couple of years earlier we’ll the reason he didint was he did want to upset Drew.
This bloke would be payed in excess of $500,000 upwards and if he doesn’t perform next year we will have to get rid of him along with paying out the rest of his contract because of a stupid decision to keep him on for another 2 years.
Hardwick, Buckley and Scott started there coaching jobs at the same time, with Hardwick having a premiership under his belt and Buckley looking like his team will be playing finals, it looks like Scott is lagging.

When asked in today's press conference about whether this loss was one of more frustrating of Brad's career, he replied:

'Nah, just another day at the office'.

Just another day at the office? A finals shot goes begging. Against an also-ran. In front of a home crowd.

Just another day at the office? A five-goal fade-out. Against a side with 700 less total games played among their 22 than ours.

Brad is known around the club for his philosophy of 'own a house by the time you retire'.

He tells the youngsters when they first arrive, 'if you leave this club without owning house, it has been a failure'.

In many ways I admire this 'professional' approach to professional football.

After all, these are young men, not just footballers, and good guidance is golden. A typical football career is only a few years long.

In other ways, I wonder if the mindset of 'this is a job first and football second' lends itself to a culture of mediocre on-field results.

A loss like the one today? If that truly is 'just another day at the office' then it is time to find new employment.

I can only hope that Brad was putting on a front for the camera. I will give him the benefit of the doubt...

...but for how much longer?

There will always be good salaries for good footballers. And there will always be wise investment strategies for those with money.

Should a football head coach's primary philosophy be about life after/outside of football?

Or am I reading into things too far?

I do have my limits. I don't voice them all on here though, or refrain negative ones to after a loss unless its of benefit/constructive. I didn't rate Laidley at all and I would of been in the BB Laidley camp here if I was here then.

Believe me I was 50/50 a couple of years ago with Brad but I thought he was building and liked some of the changes I saw in him. Don't get me wrong, some shit still pisses me off. Stubborness is one...or maybe that is being inflexible in game. Though he had changed that in some games this year which I liked.

If its the same shit next year I would of had enough. But I think when we get some speed and better executors in there things will be a lot better. But having said that he could perhaps play a style that is best for the group of players that he has....

I do want him/them to be more ruthless at selection though next year.

And when you say administration....I definitelty agree.

But I am always players first before coach when I know they could do a lot better. They were pathetic. Maybe Brad could of changed some of that today but they didn't want it as much as the Dogs.

Anyway we will see if things change next season. If it's the same ol'.... then....

Brad Scott: “we weren’t beaten by anything that surprised us”

Guessing he learnt a lot for this loss as well.

Ducking idiot.
Well the one thing to beat those things was to get the damn ball. We didn't.

The other thing would be to flood the contest and play a scrap to stop their run.

Sums it up perfectly.

Unfortunately Brad’s office has too often been accepting of poor performance and mediocrity.

As supporters of this footy club we contribute our money to hopefully see a successful footy side and the joy of watching them play good footy.

Yes Brad by all means guide these young men to make good life decisions, but at the end of the day you have a job to do and that is to prepare them to win premierships. It’s not a ****ing charity!!!

Well to be fair to Brad he has gone through a lot of these 'unacceptable' losses over the 9 years now - I guess they are all just blending in and he is becoming immune to it all.

This is pretty much why coaches can't go 9-10 + years at one club without real success to fall back on - they just run out of ideas and excuses. I suspect Brad is at that point.

I'd like to see what he has left in him to out coach Pyke this week and give us a famous backs to the wall win over Adelaide. Show some innovation in selection, change the magnets and the tactics - really work Adelaide over like we did down in Hobart a few years back. That's what I'd like to see.

I just want to see a reaction.

A reaction befitting such a pathetic performance. Not the axing of Walker for Hrovat.

Yes, Really Brad??!!

Caleb Daniel 40 ****ing possessions!!!

Not a surprise, eh Brad??

I’ve been resonably satisfied with where B Scott has taken the team this year. Today after half time he was clueless. Seemed very reactive .

He needs to make these tough calls at the end of the year if we are to go the next step

McDonald - VFL player /trade
Ryan Clarke - VFL player / Trade
Hrovat - delist
Atley - VFL player / trade
Thommo, Waite - thank you for your service
- preuss- trade
- Simpkin, Ahern, will walker, LDU , and a couple of the big kpd In the vfl become best 22.

Targets: midfield pace. Polec becomes a priority now. Also bonus if we can get gaff and Aaron hall.

I exepected an apology from Brad but the presser signified that he wasn’t at all surprised by the performance.
He has done so much good work in the first ten rounds yet in the second half of the year has stunk it up and thats due to not mixing it up when the cattle went missing but ultimately fitness.
He sticks to development and gameplay and styles and I understand that. Ultimately you don’t have the season on your own terms for all 22 rounds and he has never learnt how to win ugly. How to save a season from disaster and get through a period of uncertainty.

He is stubborn, reactive and has one way or none.
Jacobs and Waites absence should have encountered for a more defensive gamelan but apparently our list isn’t fit enough? Whose faults that?

The lack of depth was the apparent issue after Jacobs, Hartung etc went down but that’s not the case.

It’s fitness. It’s the ability to go with the opposition on the spread and run out a game on top of the grass.
We have never done this and still don’t have the cattle to do it.
Kelly and Gaff are must haves and this preseason the cuddly soft crap needs to stop.
