Clarkson is a legend with an incredible CV but it won't translate to success at North. The early years at Hawthorn under Clarkson they hit the draft at the right time, right before the expansion clubs came in and took all the talent in the land. That played a significant role in Hawthorn's success.

Clarkson won't have that luxury at North or any other club.

Simpson also benefited from Hawthorn's success by being an assistant at the club during its glory years. In turn got him the senior gig at West Coast. Similar to Fagan with Brisbane and Hardwick with Richmond.

West Coast as a club and playing list was an already well oiled machine when Simpson took over as coach.

and lastly on a personal level....Simpson is a pig of a person that's always treated north supporters as garbage.
