Bye Bye Nobles

Rubbish.

That is so far from the reality of the situation its not funny. Do you seriously think if last nights 22 players were "mentally ready" that we would've beaten Bris??? We still wouldn't have got within 10 goals. Come on Horizons_00, you're better than that.
About being competitive not beating.

I have a lot of faith in our young blokes, it's the senior ones that don't quite hit the mark for me.

I know the ages aren't exactly comparable, but 5-6 years ago our senior players were guys like Boomer, Petrie, Firitto, Thompson, etc. and the equivalents now are Goldstein, Ziebell, Hall, Polec, Walker

Goldstein is a gun obviously, but I just feel that the others are a bit off the mark
Last night they said Hall was rated the best kick in the comp. Or second?

I think it is a little premature to attach the "S" to Nobles. Like henna tatts he can have it temporarily.

I do think we have a game plan, just haven't the cattle to carry it out. Now he could adjust our game plan to suit the current squad, but what's the point.

Better to weed out all those not capable of delivering on it. And we've plenty of those left unfortunately.
So if it's a question of cattle, why did we low ball Taz again?

If you get rid of your reliable players and keep spuds, then you reap what you sow.

Hi guys still needing to vent so here goes.

Like most people I have spent the day pondering how we could possibly still be treading water and asking how our team could possibly put up a performance like they did last night. I have come to the realisation that I and just about everyone here would have taken a 8-10 goal loss and been begrudgingly accepting of it.
We would have chalked it up to the rebuild and moved hopefully on to next week looking for small incremental advances.
I now feel that this is our biggest downfall as a club, players and supporter group collectively. Our administration and coaching group has driven this line and it’s this mindset that will never allow us to advance. I don’t know how but expectations need to change. It can’t be lip service it needs to be real change and expectation to become successful. Through the whole of the nineties everybody at the club expected to win no mater what the situation was. I know this is a chicken and egg scenario but we seem to have dug such a hole over our last 3 years. A half full attitude tells me perhaps this is our line in the sand moment.
I’m not sure that our current administration and coaching group are the ones too lead us out but I hope like hell they are.

Not beaten Brisbane but at least give a contest.

I fear alot of our players have accepted the fact that we’re under a “rebuild” and just don’t want it enough or have the confidence.

We are missing alot of good players atm (cunners, Jed, LDU, Thomas etc) and while that isn’t a excuse I didn’t see any of our players have any confidence in taking it up to Brisbane at any point.

Lots of walking around etc exactly the form we saw in the pre season has carried over. It’s so difficult to flick a switch in footy, especially with a young group.

I still think Noble and our new staff has a few more years to really entrench themselves.

Everything Noble said in his presser about why we lost was spot on .

What scares the shit out of me is the fact that he said that we thought we were past this type of result and the answer is that we need not just to drive standards at training but train harder … umm WTF ???

This is a non negotiable even if you are a top side . The good teams work their ass off at training even when they are flying.

I think he needs a tactician next to him.

They’ve obviously gone big on “development” coaches around him, but someone like what Don Pyke has done with Sydney.
Mark Williams would be handy look what his done for Melbourne oh that’s right he wasn’t a mate of Paul Roos.
Speaking of Paul Roos where’s he these days ?

Unless you can maintain possession and move the ball quickly, you’re going nowhere. Right now we can’t do either. Well we try to move it, but ending handing it over.

I’m sure we could dumb a game style down to suit the lowest denomination on the list, but where does that get us? Nowhere.

Which begs the question, who actually coached us for the 2nd half of last season? I hope this year isn't Noble's first with the training wheels off

That's a good insight, and perhaps part of Scotts reluctance to "rebuild" or even call it that (and in no way am I defending him or past decisions)......once you accept that you're rebuilding, losses become acceptable, and once you lose a winning culture its very hard to re-create it.

Perhaps it’s a matter of turning the player over internally, young or old you play if you’ve earned it through sheer effort.

Mate it goes back more than 10 years, physical things can be addressed and you can improve skills and recruit better players but the hardest thing to change in any team is the space between the ears. That is a job that requires more brutality in excising the mental canker (for example get rid of all players, pick an age, say over 25) or be prepared to manage them out over 4-5 seasons. Same goes for sports admin staff and coaching staff. If we don’t focus on the space between the ears with deadly intent then we’re in a bad place for many years to come.

‘Really sad to hear people on here whinge about how the team plays’… I’m not on that particular forum, but **** what an out of touch comment from Campbell, We THE SUPPORTERS are the lifeblood of the club you absolute peanut. We have every right to whinge about how the team plays. The ‘oh you didn’t play the game yourself’ mantra… Don’t even get me started on that- Self entitled crap. Deeply patronising to us who pay money to the club.

Everyone needs to calm down. This was always going to be a tough year. Second year in a rebuild is always the hardest. What we have learnt is that things can change quickly. We are still trying to figure out what our best 21 is. Injuries to some of our most exciting young talent not to mention missing cunnington big time. The boys will bounce back lets just get through the year work on our list at the end of it and continue to improve these young blokes. players need to take ownership. This is not the coach.

Too right he would. Rumour was that he would have been up for the job as well at the time when Shaw got it.

I think you might have a point.
