Can Port win a premiership under Ken Hinkley?

It's an achievement for Hinkley considering he's smashed the world record for AFL games coached without making a GF.

Oh the World Record. We might as well bring the Wild Card round if we are going to start using American euphemisms in this debate. That way Ken can make finals every year!

How many times and in how many threads are you going to post this repetitive loser garbage? Nobody respects your opinion.
Nobody respects your overreacton or intense hatred towards Ken Hinkley.

Hinkley turned your side from a bottom 4 side to a prelim side in 2 seasons.

If Longmuir was sacked at the end of this season and Ken Hinkley was hired as freos next coach for 10-12 years and achieves similar finals results at freo Just like he did at Port from 2013-24, I would take it.
lol - you are the first person to defeat our "well you take him then" argument with an OK.

You're repeating yourself.
LOL

As if you care about people "repeating themselves". You're one of the top contributors - one of the so-called "heroes" over on the toxic echo chamber that is the Port Adelaide board who have been stuck on repeat for the past 5 years in the 11 "Sack Hinkley" threads. :thumbsupv1:

A total of 107,991 posts and counting... and I bet you've read every single post.

I've read some of them. Not a lot of variety. Basically, the same whining, bellyaching, memes and tired gags being rehashed over and over. (This doesn't even doesn't include the thousands of "sack Hinkley" posts made in all the match threads and other various random threads.)

Bearing in mind, the vast majority of these "Sack Hinkley" posts have come at a time when Port has consistently put themselves in premiership contention. :rolleyesv1:

Allow me to repeat myself once again:

Year..... W/L........%.......Pos... Finals
2024... 15-7.... 114.2... 2nd ..???
2023... 17-6.... 112.8... 3rd... L L - -

2021... 17-5.... 126.3... 2nd...W - L -

Hinkley is actually doing his job more effectively than ever... But he has been there "long enough" and has "failed to deliver" say the haters. Therefore, he must go.

Can you divulge your relationship with Ken? You seem very protective of him.

The thing is you can’t assume the good times will last.

For us, from 2001-17 we made 12 of 17 finals series, made 5 prelims and made a grand final. Now we’re in the shit and it might be a while before we’re back to that and despite some good times, ultimately have nothing to show for it. The tenures of Craig, Sanderson and Pyke are kind of ones of missed opportunities.

You can’t just assume that when Hinkley moves on things will be good or that they’ll remain so for as long as he stays. That is both an argument for him (grass isn’t always greener), and one against him (he’s wasting the opportunities they have).
You also forgot the Gary Ayres era of 2001-3. Crows lost a 2002 preliminary final to magpies and would of faced Brisbane in 2002 grand final had the crows made it.

Yep count that as a missed chance for a grand finals too.

I envy all what the non Vic sides achieved from 1995-2010 when it was a 16 team comp.

Adelaide, Brisbane, swans and West coast all made finals at a bare minimum 8 times out of 16 years. All of them at least made 2 grand finals for 1 flag.

Port from 1997-2010, similar thing. Finals in 7 years out of 14. That's a 50 percent strike rate . Made 2 grand finals for that 2004 flag and 2007 loss.

Meanwhile.... Dockers from 1995-2010 were poorly run. Only made finals in 2003, 2006 and 2010.

It wasn't the lack of a flag or grand final that hurts me personally I'm that 1995-2010 period, it's the lack of finals, back to back finals that hurt. Making finals in 2004-5 would mean a nice period where Freo made finals each year from 2003-6.

Crows from 1995-2010.... Flags in 1997-8. Finals again in 2001-3. Then more finals in 2005-09. It's not a bad era to look back on from 2000 onwards

Even Whateley, Kenny's biggest fan when it was time to rally the protection racket, is flippantly saying Brisbane's path to the Grand Final is through an away game in Adelaide. Like it's no great shakes. Absolutely nobody thinks Port will be there on grand final day.

Would you have him coach the Hawks?

Genuine chance to finish second with a pathway to a GF without leaving Adelaide.

This could be their time

How much would Freo have to win by today for the Cats to jump Port?

I didn’t watch any of the Geelong game, what happened in the second half? I had assumed it was gonna be a complete bloodbath with the Cats keeping their foot down trying to get ahead of Port.

Ken 7-3 away from home this year. Port better away than at home, it seems the problem with Port is their supporters.
Guessing you would have been in here in 2020, 2021 and 2023 telling us the same thing. August has always been his best month.

Ken's test for 2024 hasn't even started yet. It starts in two weeks' time. Hopefully he doesn't fail it as spectacularly as he has on his last three attempts.

I've got a feeling that at about 5:30pm on 28th September there will be alot of Port supporters that will need to eat some humble pie about Ken Hinkley.

It hasn't felt this electric at Port since the 2014 prelim.

There's a bit of joy around the place. They're a young side with a list that Hinkley has overhauled and developed.

Only a few dozen Port supporters on BigFooty are yet to jump onto the bandwagon.
