What would you expect a player to say? "Well, we're a bunch of spuds and we'll be bundled out in the first week in a 100 point plus thumping."

Silly thread.
Guess some things never change, a Carlton representative not telling the truth. ;)

True, we all need to remember how the media works. Clubs put their players up to the press (all through season are coached what to say and how to respond) - players sigh realising this is apart of the payroll. Journalists ask the same questions time in time out - even though they know the kind of response they will get. In the case of Carlton - a team just outside the 8 - they ask "do you think you can make the finals - how do you think you will go?". Carlton player responds in a manner backing his team and coach - we know how this all works by now, right?

It would be funny to see a response like " well I doubt we will make it being two games behind - maybe do or die match with Port - then we can steal their place. But honestly we are well behind other clubs so I think we will get smashed in our first final. "

That would send Journos into a frenzy like you wouldn't believe but you will NEVER see it.

Do CFC have anyone handling PR, or does everyone just say what the think at the time, with mixed messages coming from the executive, coach, former-captain and other players....and Brick?

Don't think so. Sometimes we even get the occasional disgruntled board member like Mathieson saying things that completely contradict what the president said a few days ago.

Best for clubs to represent themselves as all being on the same page, you would think. Though I don't believe that that necessarily means players can't have their own opinion. Some stuff you would want to be managed with solidarity in mind.

Misleading title, can't remember the last time they did any recent damage in finals.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

I liked Mitch Robinson's "witches hats" description of Melbourne a couple years ago.

Mathison has zero credibility.
Lazy journo's get in contact with him if they want a headline grabbing quote.

As for Jamo, would have been nice had he kept his mouth shut and just given the we're only focusing on Essendon this week line.
