One of the most biased unbalanced articles I have read. How can you define a rebuild as half baked when:

We did not sacrifice even a 3rd round draft pick for any of the players from other clubs

5 of the 15 players came by way of the Menzel Trade: Out Menzel in kerridge, phillips, plowman, sumner, lamb

Lloyd claims you need a 150 gamer out of the above. Well today those players have playef 87 games v menzel 0

Palmer we received for pick 135 =free when we are desperate for a big body. Which kid are we going to draft at circa 80 who is better.?

Half baked rebuilds dont delist 30 in 2 years, draft 11 kids plus wright, le bois. Lloyd should add buckenarra's rating on le bois.

Draft 2016
Out Thouy, 2017 2nd rounder, 3 low picks(facts may need correcting)
In: pickett, marchbank, smedts, 3 low picks, palmer

Half baked rebuilds don't draft to pick 70

Is Lloyd saying we shouldnt have taken Macreadie at 48 because he was a GWS zone player?

Yarran for pick 19 cunningham. We bet the future on that one and cunningham has simo like development projectory

We didnt take one overpriced free agent in the bolton silvagni era

Hold Carlton to the same standards as melbourne and Stkilda where everything is defined by a 10 year rebuild and Roos' cut and run rose colored glasses

Betts Thomas thing was a mistake but mention in the same line that the same staff brought "the all Australian Sam Docherty to the club. (Docherty was mentioned but not in this contexy)

Waite,Robinson, Garlett are not world beaters. They might be worth an extra win. Garlett picks and chooses. Waite left at 33 and is a good player when surrounded by big bodies. Robinson would help but only a good player in a weak side.

Betts is 30 now. I would love to have himHe is too old to play in our next premiership side.

All Carlton supporters ask is to be held to the same standards as other clubs. We may not win many games this year but that does not define a rebuild as half baked

Dare you to send that to Matthew at the Hun. Address is to The Dikc.

I haven't read the article but we have recruited a few too many short term types in the last few years. We keep adding to our list of short and medium term players to the point where it becomes harder to move them on. I know each draft is different but I'd rather we squeeze as much from the draft each year as we can before we start trading in periphery players as a sort of damage control mechanism. In that way, I wouldn't go as far as to say our rebuild is half baked as much as slightly doughy in spots.

I mean to say, how many players did we have to take off of GWS the year before last to get Plowman and Philips at the right price? What does having Gorringe on the list do for us? Could we have had another pick in this year's draft for LeBois and drafted in another player we rated for our first rookie pick? If Williamson works out does that mean that having deep picks in the draft is often underrated by us? These are the types of things we should be looking at if we want to get this rebuild right.

It's also a must, IMO, that we don't take a scalpel to the rebuild at the end of this year just to get an instant injection of senior talent. We must utilise free agency rather than start coughing up draft picks in the top five.

No access to it. Can you post the article?

Here you go.....

CARLTON president Mark LoGiudice has defended the club’s list strategy in the wake of scathing criticism from former Essendon champion Matthew Lloyd.
LoGiudice hit back at Lloyd, saying the Blues’ list build was on the right track.

“He (Lloyd) has got a view and I think it is an uninformed view, but that is OK,” LoGiudice told the Herald Sun.

“We’ve got a strategy, we’ve got a plan and we are sticking to it.”

Cheers mate

I find it amusing how people like Lloyd and other journos take so much away from preseason games... Lazy and uninformed Journalism

Absolutley agree

Unfortunately too many supporters read their lazy journalism and make informed opinions from it ...

The Hun uses Lloyd to do a negative article about Carlton to sell newspapers. Keeps the pot boiling by getting an official response from The Prez.

I can see the logic of the list rebuild. You need to bring in experienced players to protect the recruits that need time to develop. Footy has gone a long way past the days of Jim Buckley debuting as a 16 year old. The fitness and strength required to play now has gone through the roof in the last decade.

I expect to see an increased output from the likes of Silvagni, Curnow and Cuningham this season which sees them playing for the majority of the season. As for last newbies I'd hope that the majority of them play their first games this season. With luck some might seize the chance and play 10 plus games.

As for the 'hacks' we've recruited I'd say that all have been recruited for a purpose. With some it will be a brief experience if they fail to take the opportunity. As for others like Marchbank and Pickett I'm pretty excited about the long term prospects.

If Carlton don't make another 10 or more changes to the list at season's end it will mean progress has been made with this list and players deserve another contract based on form. If this happens then Lloydy will be eating humble pie when he writes a season review. If another swathe go then it means players haven't been good enough and the rebuild continues. A result like this still doesn't validate his comments.

Good points you make and seems it had the desired effect with a response from our prez .
Good way to sell papers and get internet traffic going by having a knob such as Lioyd having a dig at us . We fell hook line and sinker . However it does serve a purpose in the end to reinforce to the masses that we have a long way to go . Personally if theres anything * in the paper on the internet, footy shows whatever i dont read or watch it . Havent watched an * game for 3 years other than when we play them . I suggest to anyone whenever anything * comes up do as i do switch off turn over dont read the article give them nothing their not worth it ...
