pokie machines have to return around 85-90 cents in the dollar spent to consumers and then there's costs of licences, venue estasblishment, wages etc.

still it's one of the most intensely profitable business models in the world and involves a lot of fairly predatory practice to get people into a venue.
Another way to write that is that pokie machines take 10-15% of money put in on average. This is guaranteed revenue and there is no risk for the owner at all.

Nice ..
So you won a B&F or two yourself ?
I wish!

Was very, very average at both while I was there. The footy club was building up a good development culture just as I left after U16's, and the cricket club wasn't much chop for juniors, leaving it to too few to really put in.

It's a bit of a weird cauldron down there. By the time you're playing 16's, everyone knows everyone else. You're playing against blokes you know from school or because you've played against them every year from 10's on. I had blokes who'd sigh when they got me - as the dour back pocket I was for most of my career, before I became a midfield tagger - because they knew they weren't getting much space, and then mids who I got to know pretty well because I'd get stuck with them every time we played and there's not all that much point in exchanging hostilities.

Nuff about me now, though! Back to Weiters!
