Am I hearing rebuild based on that analysis, and all the players you’ve let go together with a preference for the draft?
No. More akin to a refresh, which is what most clubs do at the end of the season.
We made finals last year with a decimated list, but the majority of the list profile is in good shape, age and experience wise. So just your normal get rid of injury prone 26/27 yo like Martin, Cunningham and Marchbank, who we replaced with Haynes. Both fringe. Cut a couple others. Traded Owies & Kennedy coz we didn't want to prevent him from more game time somewhere else. Pick 38. Meh. That'll do. Austin will turn it into something we need. MK was probably going to be behind young Cooper Lord next year as well too. Get in a high draft pick (or 2 coz we can still live trade 3) and that's it.
Pretty happy I would think with the rest.

Hated him from day 1. Mostly coz how good he was and didn't play for Carlton and always tore us apart. Pissed me off no end.
But. Back to the question, which I'm afraid to say I can't answer. He is obviously a very very good footballer and his achievements reflect that but over my time I've seen some wonderful players.
I am not one of those guys that adhere to the GOAT theory that such and such was the best of all time followed by so and so and so forth.
There's far too many great players of the past and in different ways, to order them.

Answering a question about Dustin Martin and finding a way to insert GOAT somewhere in the answer, even if just to see those two very disparate things in relative proximity, fairly ‘Richmondy’ thing to do… The original question made no mention of goats.

At least you're writing 'we' now, and not 'they'.

Baggers fell into the finals based on a soft fixture.

They only players of note who played missed more than a quarter of the season for Carlton in 2024 and you would expect more output in 2025 were - Cerra, Doc, Cincotta, Fogarty and Cottrell.

What happens to Carlton if Cripps, Harry, Weiterz, Charlie actually struggle with injury - that is a decimation.

For comparison, Pies players of note who missed more than a quarter of the season in 2024 - DeGoey, Elliott, Mihocek, McCreery, T.Mitchell, McStay.

No wonder people think our forward line is a weakness. In 2024 we had 4 first choice forwards (and DeGoey the wildcard who is a proven 2 goal a game forward if we play him deep) not out on the park!

This has already been pointed out to them, but they'd prefer to argue that 35 of their best 22 missed 5 more games across the season than Collingwood's actual best 22.

It makes them feel they can improve in 2025 if they get a better run with injury...

Injuries are no excuse, Pie supporters still whinging, you finished in Mexico time to suck it up.

Strange you replied to a Pie supporter whinging about injuries with a whinge about us.

If Charlie gets injured it makes Vossy's whole game plan redundant. They have to switch to plan B, Kick it to Harry. Plan C is already out the window now Owies is gone.

Strange you thought it was strange and bothered to post it.
Fadge having a whinge without a Carlton supporter even posting so yeah very strange and it got Fadge Jnr involved as well.

Collingwood throwing stones about reliance on star players is very rich.

Imagine if Daicos went down for an extended period? They’d be bottom 6 easily.
Collingwood has won 100% of its finals player without Nick Daicos since he was drafted.

Lol that’s about $25k per goal from Schultz. Huge return.

Motlop barely played this year.

Owies kicked more goals than Hill and he’s steak knives.
Embarrassing you even tried the earlier crap.
Motlop wasn’t capable of holding down a spot that’s why he only played 6 games.
You better go and convince your mates who keep bagging him, how good he is.

Owies - so good that you dumped him.

Why? No one should contribute to that thread. Ridiculous thread. Shouldn't even be up. Waste of time.

It's about to clock over to Part 2, eight months after the opening post.

If it's a waste of time, there are a lot of people wasting their time in it. Particularly Carlton supporters.

Motlop definitely included in Carlton's best 22 (35).

They need to count the 17 games he missed as upside in 2025.

Remember, it's October, and everyone who is still on their list is a superstar!

Motlop was injured most of the season, do your homework and stop talking crap.
