Crazy how Brisbane won the flag after injecting 5 players under 21 in their team.

Or how Collingwood took the leap as soon as Daicos came in.

Or how Geelong went from 12th to 2nd after adding a bunch of kids.

Kids & internal investment literally take clubs to the next level. Not continual recruiting of journeymen.
Geel had a massive injury list in 2023, which they avoided in 2024 that explains the improvement- not kids.
ND is great and was cream on the cake.
BNE - were runners up before injecting kids.

Awwwwwww your so clever. Carlton's list has gone backwards. Very few players on your list are capable of winning a prelim let alone a Granny. Close to the worst list in the league. So many clubs have a multitude of players who can stand up and win Prelims and Carlton do not.
Cmon Einstein, give us one of those bold fadge-like predictions as to where you think Carlton will finish in 2025. We could do with a prediction giggle . Going off the tone of your posts, Carlton finish around 16th , yeah ? Be brave

Listen to any Geelong player talk about 2024 before the year it was all about excitement around bringing in kids. In particular Dangerfield.

Daicos was not simple ‘cream on the cake’. Generational players are not ‘cream on the cake’ . Describing him as that is genuinely insulting to the young prince. You were 17th before he arrived.

Exactly, Brisbane were close, very close. Bought in kids with some refreshing changes and shit in the flag, looks like they’ve extended their window another 3-4 years by doing so as well.

Injecting LOL

Brisbane had 22 players play 15 or more games for them in 2024 - of the 22, 18 were above 24.

They "injected" Ashcroft, Wilmot and Fletcher in 2023, when they didnt win the flag.

Brisbane have a team full of quality senior players. They have their draft picks from 2015-17 - Hipwood, McCluggage, Berry, Bailey, Rayner, Starcevic - who are now quality senior players.

But Brisbane also value attracting quality senior talent - Neale, Cameron, Dunkley, Daniher, Ah Chee, Fort, McCarthy, Hodge, Adams, Lyons, Birchall, Gunston...

Probably why Brisbane has a premiership and 4 additional top4 finishes in the last 6 years after they rebuilt from 2015.

Carlton started rebuilding at the same time, have Brownlows, Colemans but no top4 finish.

Lmao according to who? You're list is absolutely ancient, even more so than in 2023.

Pies will be lucky to make the 8 next year given the injury likelihood of 33-36 year olds. Fancy having a list full of critical players in that age bracket 😂😂😂

According to the fact our list has multiple Premiership players, and your list has SFA

I will happily predict. I have stated that Carlton do not have the list to win a Prelim or a Grand Final. So my prediction is Carlton will not win a Prelim or Grand Final.

Erm, Ashcroft didn’t play in 2023. Neither Ashcroft or Lohman played, both of them were in the top 5 players on GF day this year - you reckon they win the flag without them?

Of course 18 of them are over 24, every premiership team is mature, it’s almost always balanced out with a group of gun kids though. Teams take the next step when they have 5-6 quality kids running around instead of journeymen battlers.

Your idea that the premiership team every year is full of bona fide gun senior players is fundamentally wrong.

Now tell us why you don't rate Cody Walker after his results so far.

My idea is that Carlton needs more quality senior players if they want to challenge for a flag.

So we should just sell the farm for another superstar each year?

You get quality senior players through the door by bargain trading & recruiting. In recent years we got:

Williams (bust)
Saad
Cerra
Acres
E Hollands

and you think it’s a wise move to trade what little currency we have entering compromised drafts for another half back flanker?

Glad you’re a Bigfooty hobbyist and not running a footy club.

And you think it’s a wise move to trade what little currency we have entering compromised drafts for another half back flanker?
Exactly. You can't just be thinking that any senior player is the difference. They have to fit what the list needs to even think about throwing away all of your picks. If it was an elite small forward, key defender or outside mid we would have done it but another HB just does not move the needle enough to warrant throwing away all of our draft assets plus taking on a big salary.

Maybe if we had good kids who decide that they don't want to be part of the fabric and want to leave as per the situation at collingwood, Carlton would perhaps go down that route but the simple fact is that our kids want to stay.

Fact is - these pies fans can’t have it both ways.

You can’t genuinely sit there and say we have a rubbish list, bottom 8 material and are miles off it, but at the same time say we’re morons for not chasing Houston.

If you’re suggesting Houston - a single player - will elevate us into contention, then you must really rate our list.

Seriously, which is it? Are we 1 player off from being a top 4 side? Or a bunch of spuds who overrate our list?

Listening to Carlton posters trying to convince themselves they've done the right thing by selling the farm for pick 3 is hilarious.
It also illustrates how they manage to self delude to get excited about their team for the "next year"....year after dismal year.

Thats right guys. The pimply faced 18 year old you get at pick 3 will be the Messiah 🤣

Yikes, if anyone has adopted the messiah complex the past few years. It’s Collingwood under McRae.

We’re expecting pick 3 to come in, provide energy and a point of difference to improve us along with natural progression of our players.

You’re relying on a literal messiah to lift you from 9th to 1st, in the space of a year.

Calrton are a 5-10 list, stuck in no mans land.

They need to get more senior talent in if they want to challenge for a premiership.

Teams around them are improving

Stick to virtue signalling, that's a horrid take.

Same as pies, they went from 1st to 9th. 8 teams flew past them, many due to improve again.

They plan on catching them by recruiting 2 players on big money, whilst relying on their elder brigade.

Messiah complex. Rarely works in the modern era.

I look at stats quite often, coz they are irrefutable on their own and when certain stats are put together they can start to paint a picture.
So for my fellow Blues fans who are into stats also, and for those Collingwood fans who dare, go and have a look at the AFL app
Go to Stats. Bottom right. Then go Teams. Now in the middle go Full Table. Now, top left, start using the drop downs for each category.
There are 7 main categories, such as Disposals, Possessions, Stoppages etc and within those, subcategories.
Go through em. Good fun if you're a bagger!
They are in front of us in a few areas tho baggers so just forwarned.
Areas like clanger average where they are Number 1, just ahead of Richmond
The areas where we are ahead are things like disposal efficiency, clearances (both stoppage and centre), contested and uncontested possessions etc
You know. The good ones!
Actually, when you look at each category and sub categories, it's not hard to see why they finished where they did.
Also, I have to say I'm a little sceptical that they can bridge the gap required, with the addition of Houston and Perryman and even more so if they are seriously considering topping up with the likes of Membrey and Tomlinson, as reported in the media. Keep adding to Dad's Army. Good stuff!!
Anyway, good read. Good times when you're in front.
