I have this nagging feeling that Gibbs' and Murphy's form will improve compared to their start of the year.

And whoever is saying they'd rather Judd plays because Carlton are no better with him in, you're kidding yourselves. He's probably been their best player so far this year.

Can't think of a less inspiring captain in the AFL than Marc Murphy
Heard him on news talkin bout the team, sounded like he was discussing the weather with a guy in an elevator. No energy, no confidence, no meaning.

Not sure if it's been posted, but I'll bring it up again if it has.

Every supporter who goes to the game this week needs to remember one thing alone for the afternoon. When the EFC players were asked who gave them the most sledging on the ground during the 2 years accusing them of being drug cheats during a game, the common name that came up was Chris Judd.

A total hypocrite of the highest order, mentioning drugs and the plight they cause, when the reason he got out of West Coast was because of the drug culture at the club. It effected some good football people and cost one his life. I don't think the sledging and baiting should be overlooked by any means and any time C Judd looks close at gaining a possession, he should be booed as loud with his first touch... until his last.

A great exponent of the game? You betcha. Skills of the highest order - no argument from me.

After hearing the above from our players, I won't venerate Chris Judd or admire him with any esteem in regards to his integrity on the field. I despise that he chose the weakest element to use against our players as a cheap shot, with no substance. As we only play Carlton once this season and with Judd nearing the end, I'd love for our players to take his 'kind words' on board and give him the send off he deserves. The crowd can only help.

yeah.....nah. champion footballer, shit bloke, simple as that really.

what's next, turning our backs every time he touches the football.

Didn't he go off the ground at one stage, with what appeared to be a groin strain?

In the first quarter he had a shot at goal smothered, then came off the field holding the top of his thigh. I think he probably played injured for the next 2 quarters before being subbed. Maybe groin or hip flexor? Hopefully not too serious if he could keep playing, but might be one that gets a rest.

Reading this thread, the seeds of a defeat this weekend are clearly being sown.

Given our complete lack of consistency, I don't know how any of you feel this confident about any game, let alone Carlton, who always save their best for us...

There is nothing to gain by sacking Malthouse at any stage this year. Everyone at Carlton must realise by now the hole that their list is in. Bringing in an interim coach won't solve that and it's hardly Matlhouse's fault that they're in this position. Also, it would be pretty poor form to sack him before he breaks McHale's record.

Harsh to make changes after a great win but I hope they go with:

In: Fletch Dempsey McKernan
Out: Gwilt Howlett Ambrose

Ashby deserves another game.

Dagleish and Edwards on standby for Goddard and Z.Merrett if they don't recover from their injuries received today

We're about to play a physically weak side who can likely be bullied out of the contest and you want to drop the bloke most likely cause involuntary bowel movements?

Not to mention what we did on Sunday, win the unwinnable game. It's human nature.

I am, I shit you not, LESS confident this week than I was last.

We do this too often, lose games against sides we should beat the living shit out of.

This game is the biggest test for us. Bigger than having the grand finalists back to back. We've always been able to compete and beat the best within the last few years, but we've struggled against the bottom teams. Last year we had no clue that Carlton were going to be terrible and we beat them by 81 points. When it was established that they were bad, we drew with them.

We are the complete opposite of flat track bullies. The only way we can tell we have improved is if the next 3 games are comfortable wins, because that's exactly what it should be.

We should be confident of a win on paper, but that's not where the game is won. Given our record against the bottom teams and the risk of complacency, this is a danger game.
