It's all in the name.

Nice story, natural (but misguided) assumption that because Sam is a jet, Henry will become one too.

Still not convinced we need an 18yo ruckman to develop behind the 21yo TDK and 24yo Pitt. We're probably better off with a 28yo journeyman for the next few years.
Kernahan brothers prove the point .

Kennedy is already a rookie along with Betts.

This is what the club said -
“There are some inside mids and small forwards that we’ve been looking at closely, there’s also some key position depth especially in the back half of the ground."

Club targeted types and attained those types. One to go.

Yep.

BTW did any6see that contested mark Carroll took in the highlights?

That gets me very excited.

I regularly make jokes about David Kernahan and dud brother syndrome.

But he would have had a decent career as a backman if it were not for injuries.

A couple of top 5 finishes in B&F in his first few seasons.

It def takes the gloss off Carrol that we took Durdin first.

It's a bit like how Sienfeld was dating that chick that Newman dumped.

Sounds like the Crows wanted Durdin, so we got in before them. So they took Rowe before we took Carroll.
Smart!

Carroll is a great pick, Durdin was way too early for my liking

Club suggested it wanted a developing KPD, a midfielder and a small forward

Club selected 2 midfielders

Rest of the off season will be interesting
Strange you categorise Durdin as a mid when everyone else is categorising him as a small forward. Given we only took 2 picks bit hard to 3 players

Sorry, I have been off practicing my breakdancing. Did I miss anything?

We drafted a small forward who is really a midfielder that someone put in the photocopier and then pressed the 90% scale button.
We got a guy at pick 41 who was expected to go in the top negative 15.
Jimmae is entering a David Parkin forehead vein lookalike competition.

There’s just no need for it to take that long. The meaningless scratchy zoom interviews are one thing, but 5 minutes for every pick? Give the clubs 2 minutes, and let them ask for more time if they need it, like they used to.

I don't mind 5 minutes for the first round, but I agree with 2 minutes for each pick from the 2nd round onwards.
That was ridiculous last night.

Some of the reactions to not picking certain players are a bit strange, these players were passed over by all clubs, some passed over multiple times, but many here have obviously watched them as much as all the other AFL clubs and met with them personally too.

We wasted no time taking our picks which suggests we were either had reached our decision ahead of time or we rated them higher than where they fell.

Across the trade and draft periods, we largely got what we wanted without touching our 2021 picks.

Jimmae's thin slicing has just gone to next level...not sure what's beyond thin slicing? Airbending?

Came over as a wingman, bulked up and played as a key defender and had his career cut short with injury - you have to love early 90's sports science in the AFL.

Very underrated player IMO.

One can categorise another any way they wish, but the club isn't doing this.

They're targeting types to fill roles......and not imagining that this could become that.....so and and on.
If things change for the better later on via development then fine, but no more of this 'imagination'

That era of trading/drafting is behind us and so <2015

Surely Durdin was drafted as a small forward.

One man's 'bit strange' is another's utterly ****ing ridiculous...

But yes, agree. As I think I say every year, I temper all expectations with a recollection of how happy I was on that fateful night in 2010. I can recall Buckenara writing articles about how unbelievable it was that LeBois slipped to us in the rookie draft, others waxing lyrical about Clem Smith. I can recall a certain ESPN analyst deriding our selection of DeKoning in multiple posts.

Ultimately each club has selected from a bucket of nuggets. Some will grasp gold, others turds. Possibly some chicken...but the analogy loses value from that point on.

I would add Marsh to our list, can play key back or forward and has the athleticism to play other roles. Still only 25

Then I would add a developing tall through the rookie draft

I'd prefer to take KPP's at the pointy end of the draft. Like we have done with Charlie, H & Weiters.
