Preview Changes and pre match discussion - don't care who we are playing as long as Wardlaw is captain next week

Yes, the AFL integrity unit had to give him the tick off to play VFL football.

The articles were fairly specific about the AFL approving VFL football and training.

No mention of AFL football.
No mention of AFL in this one.

This one says we will consult with the AFL to get the final tick of approval. My guess is, if we say he's good then AFL just tick it off.

Haven't looked at any others. One thing is for sure, he'll add a whole lot to the side.

Great person.
Average footballer.
Not enough leadership to be captain.
Fair enough but you could find plenty of examples of Jy not showing good enough leadership at this point in his career.
Given the stuff we've been through as a club, I think there is some sense in them sharing the captaincy burden for one or two years whilst the team hopefully improves and Simpkin becomes the standout leaders when he's matured a bit more as a leader. I'm sure the players will vote on it again each year.

Given our form since 2020, we've not got a terrible recent record against them. Averages out to a three goal loss each time. Which makes me all the more nervous of a 100-point belting

I'd say Jy has shown far more onfield leadership and we really miss him onfield when he's not playing or has a down day.

I have a feeling that both Jy and LMac are placeholders for a year or two until the next crop come through.

Yeah agree Jy is maybe a better onfield leader but he's got some ways to go to lead like Ziebell has.
I think Jy most likely is captain for 4-5 years as the depth of leaders is not there.
Larkey perhaps could do it as he could handle media side but not sure Zurhaar and LDU are seen as leaders either and are that comfortable doing media.
Phillips, Sheez and Wardlaw are too young, need to just focus on their footy. Can't think of too many others that scream leaders.

The Kangaroos should have some options to come back into the team for this weekend's clash with the high-flying Pies. Aidan Corr will return from a one-match suspension and should come straight back into the side's backline. Flynn Perez (concussion), Darcy Tucker (hamstring) and Cam Zurhaar (face) will all face fitness tests later this week, but should be in contention. However, Liam Shiels (concussion) has entered the AFL's 12-day protocols while Blake Drury (hip) is no certainty to be fit. Ben Cunnington (32 disposals, one goal) impressed in the VFL and could provide a hardened body in the midfield. Young duo Charlie Lazzaro (33 disposals, one goal) and Cooper Harvey (20 disposals, five goals) were also among the standouts in the reserves. – Riley Beveridge

R10 sub: Dan Howe (replaced Blake Drury)

Id love to see Tarryn play, but i think he will wait until after the Essendon game. GWs in tassie where we can hide him form the media.

Out: Shiels, Hall, Drury
In: Cunnington, Perez, Zurhaar

This aint the week for the kids. if they get the bit between the teeth they can score quickly. Leave Cooper in the twos for another week and give drury a spell for Zurhaar. I cna see them dropping Spicer but not sure who for yet. Maybe Lazzaro.

What a long-winded way to say that you've watched absolutely **** all North games this year. Really, Corr and Perez shouldn't be allowed near Marvel at the moment

Zurhaar and Tucker the only two who should come in.

Perez, Corr, Lazzaro are not automatic inclusions.

Harvey isn’t in a position of need.

Cunners would get absolutely destroyed on the spread against Collingwood.

Don't know about cunners coming in, collingwood are super quick and will kill us on the spread.

This is the game I hate the most each season - I take it personally that I cheer for the Pies every other week and now they and all their supporters (including the ones in my family) have turned on me and want me to be sad. Haven’t been to one of these games with my partner since 2000 when she hung her scarf out of the window on the way home.

This week I’ll be there, not sitting with but at the same game as my partner and son who will be cheering for Collingwood. We have agreed that we will all be sensitive if we see our team win and not over-sensitive if we see our team lose. I offered to stay home so they can enjoy it but my partner said it’s my right to support my team, and you never know what will happen, so we should make it work. Might need advice from Ligma to help get me through - my plan is to ignore the people around me and move behind our cheer squad if it gets too hard. Really, if I stayed home because I didn’t want to be near obnoxious opposition supporters or because I worried my team would get thumped, I’d never go at all.

I walked out last week near tears thinking how much I hate football and asking why I do it. Here we are again already. Go North.

How do you think I feel? I’m related to a player.

The absolute pride and joy I would have if a certain ginger haired defender won a flag is equalled by the annoyance that Collingwood have won.
