Out pedo and spargo
In Garlett and Tyson

Spargo rest, pedo cause he was shit
Keep McDonald and hogan forward with Garlett crumbing
Give J smith another shot, it was his first proper game

Spargo may be young, but I wouldn't be resting him for the sake of resting him. He has the week off with the bye anyway, and he was the only one who wanted to put on some pressure in our forward line.
Agree, but really think we are lacking without a crumber and that Garlett needs to come in. Hannan could go out, but he's having a consistent scoreboard impact with 13 in 8. Perhaps ANB makes way after two poor games, regardless of his GPS numbers.

Agree.

Bring 6 for:
1. Weid for Pederson
2. Balic for Spargo
3. Garlett for Hannan
4. Frost for Smith
5. Hunt for Salem
6. Bugg for Harmes

These are replacements.
I’d be leaving Harmes Smith Salem and Hannan in the side. I think Tim Smith or Weideman for Pedersen and I’d like to see Balic get a go but think Garlett would likely come in first.

I actually think Smith should be a permanent fixture in the side. Even if we bring another tall in. He’s 191cm and can go to a flank. Just keep playing him.
yeah I completely agree, that's the way i'd go about it. time for Vince to be moved out of defence. he hasn't got the legs anymore or the cool head required under pressure.

We can safely now put a line through Pedo's AFL career. At worst he gives us nothing a player with a future can't.

Out: Pedo, Truck, Hannan and Vince/Lewis
In: Weid/Smith, Tyson, Bugg and Petty

Truck needs to destroy the VFL for a few weeks, Bugg adds passion and we need a second genuine tall defender, and it sure as shit ain't Frost.

No need for drastic changes.

Balic needs a lot more body of work to replace Spargo.
I thought hannan was serviceable on Monday (it wasn't a high standard but he was in our better players)
Give smith more than 1 week aside from a couple of dodgy kicks and one loopy handball he defended and marked quite well
Hunt is out injured for 4-6 weeks
You'd bring Tyson in for Harmes - a genuine mid for a HFF-mid

Out: Pedo
In: Tim Smith

I can't think of anyone better equiped to take Lever's role as an intercept defender.

From what I've seen of Smith so far this year, he has the hands, height and head to play the role.

It might take some adjustment to switch from a forward mindset to defence, but he played in defence before he went to Casey, so it wouldn't be entirely new for him.

It's worth a shot, especially against Port.

ANB would be undroppable for the coaches, I reckon

It'll be minimal changes, they'll be expecting a rejuvenated group after a bye

I have erased the previous game from my memory. But looking at recent form something just seems off with Petracca - I agree with some poster's that perhaps he needs a rocket and a week off because he is not fulfilling his potential. I also think our midfield needs something, we got smashed two weeks in a row which is terrible considering it is our strongest area. I'm going to put that down to fatigue and hope they come back firing. But if they don't I'm looking at Viney for Tyson. Not don't kill me I love Viney but he isn't back to his true form yet which is why I'm saying let's give him a couple more weeks but maybe he needs to get some more confidence in the VFL

More chance of Neeld coming back than dropping Viney for Tyson.

More proof for those of us who think you should play VFL before AFL.
?

Viney did play VFL before AFL... of course Tommy didn’t though. Your right, we should send him back to the VFL to earn his spot.

Port will smash us unless we sort out the stoppages issue. That is our main concern right now.not sure what has happened as the contested ball and stoppages were strength. But we've been murdered in there last two weeks. If we get done in the stoppages against the better teams, we get smashed.

The only change I'd make is Pedo out and Garlett or Tyson in. Need more run. We looked slow and big against Pies and Port are a quick side. Concentrate on getting stoppages right and we don't need to change much.

Viney played one game and has looked crap for the most part.
Tmac was the exception not the rule, when you miss almost a year of footy like Viney you should earn confidence and touch through the VFL.
When we bought him in we weren't exactly desperate for another clearance player.

I got laughed at for suggesting dropping Viney to VFL. He's struggling and since coming back into the side, our stoppage work has gone backwards. I think Petracca and Viney both need a spell in the VFL to find touch. I doubt it will happen and tbh, Viney in particular is probably close to a huge game, but look at what it did for Gus, Billings for the Saints!

VFL should be a place to find fitness, not form, unless someone in direct competition for that players' place is banging the door down, in which case it's just down to selection decisions. Players will naturally go through up and downs and they need to work through that. Don't see what playing against substandard opposition is going to do for them other than provide a bit of (false) confidence.
