If you read my post I didnt say not to kick it in his direction. What I'm saying is not bomb it where it gives him a massive advantage. Be smarter and put it out in front of our player or if thats not an option, look at a different alternative.
Dont be such a smart arse mate. Its a discussion not a put shit on someone show.So kick it to Aliirs opponents advantage or a better option. All that time with Fages must be paying off
The issue is Aliir will put himself in the most dangerous spot so going around him will likely slow down our ball movement. The times you can't avoid him tend to be the long down the line when we're kicking to a big pack where a turnover is less likely to hurt us rather than taking a more difficult kick where a turnover would likely result in a score
This avoiding the long down the line stuff has always seemed from slow ball movement out of defence so there will be an effort to move the ball quickly through the corridor or zog zapping up the wings. This mostly falls down for us because we're too slow in providing these options and sometimes skills
We tend to bomb it out of contested situations. We're usually happy to get the territory and have another contest closer to goals. Again there's an issue with personnel but we need to make an effort to link up to get the ball to the outside to make better decisions. We also saw in the Melbourne final last year we tried to ground the ball with these bombs rather than give it too much air.
So this all comes back to workmate rather than decision making when you're standing 75m from goal and you have the option to either bomb it near Aliir or find some miraculous kick to a different teammate
There's also a danger in being too Aliir conscious. He has days where he's not firing. Be aware that we probably need to negate opportunities for him to easily intercept and up the pressure and run in aspects of our game that will allow us not to have to make the choice often enough. So kick it to Aliirs opponents advantage or a better option. Yes we still go down long down the line on occasion, but now no or only a little more often than the best ball movement teams. Whereas in recent years it's been endemic. We've become so much better at going around those spare defenders, yes that has involved more lateral ball movement, and it's been great to watch.
Quietly confident that our whole team have been setting themselves for September.Quietly confident Neale has been setting himself for a massive finals series. He will understand this is the best opportunity of his career to win a flag and one as captain no less. I expect to see the best version of Neale we have seen yet in September. Remember his final v Richmond last year? He will be mentally ready for a massive finals campaign.
I am loudly confident.Quietly confident that our whole team have been setting themselves for September.
I'm never confidentI am loudly confident.
That’s good, because we are better than that.I'm never confident
Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future performance. And stuff.
That’s good, because we are better than that.

We could talk about trivial stuff like what is the meaning of life or does there even need to be a meaning.I don’t know what we are going to talk about for the next week and a bit in this thread.
Anyone see the Super Blue Moon last night? We could talk about trivial stuff like what is the meaning of life or does there even need to be a meaning.
99% of scientists at the time believed the earth was flat so likewise I'm just following the science.I'm sick of people spewing conspiracies that earth is not flat. C'mon, if earth is round all the water from the oceans will just float off in space.
We could talk about trivial stuff like what is the meaning of life or does there even need to be a meaning.

NOTES: The Lions are a very settled team now. Lincoln McCarthy has overcome a calf injury to resume his place, which means one player has to be squeezed out. It probably comes down to either Jarryd Lyons or Deven Robertson. The young West Australian has a touch more versatility and burst, which is valuable against Port Adelaide, despite the strong play of Lyons in recent weeks. Perhaps Chris Fagan would be tempted to go for Darcy Fort as a third tall forward and stretch Port's defensive stocks, but his two-tall system has worked well in recent weeks and shouldn't be tinkered with.
Getting picky, but if we are to have a tall defender as an emergency I think Gardiner would get the gig over Joyce imo.Michael Whiting absolutely nailed team selection for the Port Adelaide game. Obviously we are going to miss Ashcroft who is clearly a “lock” in our team, but him to one side, we go into this finals series with a very settled line up and our next BEST 22 and SUB ready to run out and stake a powerful claim for the flag.
I am not advocating for Lester to be replaced in the side.Match Replay: Brisbane v Richmond
The Lions and Tigers clash in round 16 of the 2023 Toyota AFL Premiership Seasonwww.afl.com.au
Go to 00:39:29 elapsed.
Remember when people used to say Lester was slow? He might not win the Stawell Gift, but if you know where to run and when to run, you can be just as damaging. I rate this as our best rebound goal for the year. Just looking at this footage reminded me that we really don’t need an additional defender Dalions - a spare midfielder is so much more important for mine.
