I was quite impressed with Jones when he went forward. Lachie is probably a better long term prospect than Fantasia who is probably on borrowed time before injury strikes again.
Our contested footy was right up there on the weekend. Players like Lachie really amplify that perception of a tough side, with JHF, SPP, Wines and to a lesser extent Butters and DBJ (yes he missed a bump on the weekend but still plays hard footy).
You want blokes who bring that sort of tenacity, and Lachie is growing as that player in every game atm.

If Boak is back then Evans moves out.

Finlayson and Burgoyne will have to wait.

Fantasia is a little rusty after missing a year but you’d suspect he’ll get injured at some point.

Actually Fantasia and Giorgiadis are both on par for poor goal-kicking the other day so we are lucky there are plenty of others.

SPP and Jones in the forward lines is a tough combo, it’s great.

All the ******* time. Try watching football you potato
Boak is a great guy and a good footballer. He's not a clutch player now and hasn't been. Look at our record in close games. Yes the coach is a brain dead idiot, but that means the players (for most of that time led by Boak as Captain), need the Captain/senior players to say '**** him, I'M dragging this team to a win'. Gray was the one who did that in recent times and Tredrea even more so (so we didn't have that level of shit in close losses when he was playing, we were either good or so poor even a single player wasn't enough to drag the team with them).

Boak in, Fantasia to sub.

Finlayson surely needs a run in the twos to get some match sim in before coming back in. Also allows Mitch some time to try and work through his form.

Yeah, in recent times Georgiades has the absolute yips about goal kicking, at times his set up is OK and he appears focused then he butcher's the kick, pardon the pun. I looked back over Mitch's record and in 2021 he kicked 32.17 but last season that slipped to 23.24!

Fantasia is not that bad a kick but he has to get the ball and stay fit. In the trials and on Saturday I noticed that he took a couple of heavy tackles and it took him an eternity to get up and go on with the game. Unfortunately Orazio just looks very fragile at times.

Evans on the field, Georgiades sub is all for me. I know the coaching panel are desperately trying to find Georgiades' on-button but Evans will score goals while Mitch remains unlikely to.
Re Finlayson and Boak who are being thrown about, they remain out for me.
In a heartbeat Boak is going from a core player to a backup, and respectfully this is good because while still playing well he is being supplanted by the future. Meanwhile I'm not sure we see Finlayson with what's going on with his wife's health. I don't think anything has been said but I'd be surprised if he played this year. And if Finlayson is occasionally available I imagine he's probably less likely to travel away from Adelaide.

Finlayson got a bit of a run in the 2s trial on the weekend, I still don't think they'll bring him in for Collingwood though - but I'd actually prefer him in this game ahead of Georgie based on Collingwood's defence structure.

Collingwoods genuine defender is going to be Frampton 😥

Moore and Murphy will be good for their rebounding but id back Dixon, Marshall and Finlayson to kick a bag between them. I also believe our defence is more dynamic than their forward line.

Collingwood's X factor is their spirit atm. They're ability to turn a game around and finish so strongly, and do it consistently will challenge our energy especially at the MCG.

I'm going and I reckon it'll be a great game, it'll really set up the winner for the season.

cant see the benefit in dropping jones, the kid needs confidence and after a 3 goal game we are going to drop him, just a strange decision.

I'm giving MG another chance, should have kicked at least 3, did enough to keep his spot.

if boak has to come in im dropping evans for boak.

I thought Jones worked into the game the longer it went on, he also lifted after the half time (spray).

He’s starting to remind me of Hardwick playing at Ports. He has a physical presence about him and doesn’t mind using it.

SPP and Jones in forward like adds hardness.

I can see Drew making way for Boak.
drew has to play and should be assigned daicos and lets see if daicos can play with some heat for a change.

IN: Burgoyne
OUT: Farrell

Jase can actually defend. Does Farrells kicking make up for his lack of Defending ability?

IN: Finlayson
OUT: Georgie.

Mitch needs to go back to the SANFL for a month and be told to just get his confidence in his kicking back. He looks completely shot when taking a kick. Even the one he made from 2 meters out sprayed right.

I feel like dropping Georgiades would be the worst thing for his confidence.
He was actually getting much more involved than he was in the pre-season game and getting in the right spots, if he kicked straight he would have had a few.
Just needs a bag or two and I think he can get himself out of the yips.
Playing him hasn't done his confidence any favours either. He looks the same as he did last season, but probably worse.

Georgie is a weird one. He's doing pretty much everything else right except converting. It's hard to see how he's going to get any better at kicking for goal at SANFL level? So may as well just keep playing him in the big league. And get him a sports psychologist while we're at it if we haven't already.

Evans has taken the field in 8 AFL games and has kicked goals in 2 of them, so that's a bit of a stretch.

Not apples ve apples. How many of Evans games were full games? The Freo pre-season game showed his value.
One good quarter in a preseason game where he was fresh playing against players who had already been out there for three quarters doesn't prove jack shit.

Noticed Georgi really misjudge the flight of a lot of balls in marking contests as well, and he drops marks he should take, outside of his obvious inability to kick for goal. If Finlayson is ready he plays. I want Georgi to succeed, but he is a bit of a liability at this stage.

If Trav is fit, he comes in. You drop a Jones or Fantasia to the sub role.
