So where is Hunter at? I heard he'd been playing WAFL but does he look done and dusted?

Saw him on tele last weekend playing against Subi, Amazed at the Mass he seems to have lost. He had an ordinary game but don't know how he played against Perth just gone? Looked very out of sorts from what I saw. At least he is out playing though, If his shoulder can hold up ok through the last few game sand then the Finals maybe he can get a Full Pre season under him and be back to his Best for us in 2010 :thumbsu:

I'm wondering if we might see more than Fletch retire this year???Reason being is at the game on Saturday the ground announcer said something about our next home game where we will farewell some of the Eagles greats....meaning more than one!

In- Fletcher, Schofield

Out- Masten, Brown

Adelaide has a small forward line so i think schofield offers some flexibility to the backline, ie can play on talls and smalls, and fletcher probably deserves a game simply based on form.

Any possibility of a Will Sullivan debut? Havent seen much WAFL living in Melbourne, so can anyone fill me in on if he is up to AFL standard, and if his body can take it?

Might be an elevation for kerr as nic nat has sore shoulder

He had a blinder against the Swans at the weekend. Probably isn't up to AFL standard just yet, but you could say that about half the ruckman getting a run in the big league at the moment. And if he comes in he'll be up against James Sellar, so we'd probably get away with it.

Can we promote him to the senior list this late in the season? I know we didn't elevate anyone to take Kerr's spot, but is it too late now?

He can take overhead marks but it seems everytime there is contact with the shoulder he is getting pain. Observed him opening and closing his fist, like when you have jarred something, after a few contested marks right in front of me on the weekend, so it's not looking great at the minute, I must say.

I read in The West, that Daniel Metropolis said that Hunter's shoulder is permanently restricted from full movement. On that basis, I'd say Hunter's AFL career is well and truly finished.
Like Fletcher, Hunter may get a ceremonial game to end their careers. That's no certainty though.

If we were to play Hunter and Fletcher, do so against Adelaide. We're not likely to win this game anyway.
With our injuries atm, I don't want to see these two play a winnable game at Subi and have to carry them and risk losing.
I say the above about Fletcher knowing that his WAFL form doesn't translate to AFL form.

Hunter even with one arm won't be a passenger.
You will always get a contest from him.
And Fletcher on form deserves a game and will win plenty of the ball against Richmond.
Would still be in the team if we were not trying to develop youth.

Let's not kid ourselves, Fletch always wins a tonne of the ball but there's a reason he was being overlooked for youth

Agreed. Seriously, does no one remember the game he played against the Dees like 2 months ago? As far as I'm concerned, that told me all I need to know re: a farewell game. Was absolutely woeful, and unless my memory is failing me, most of us at the time said that should be his last game for us ever. Why change your mind for the sake of sentimentality and say he should get a farewell game now?

One passage of play stuck out in particular for me, on the wing he goes to handball to a stationary team mate neraby... and missed him by frigging 2-3 metres!! If at AFL level you can miss a stationary target by hand, from that range by that much then you don't deserve a regular game.

They only reason Fletch deserves a farewell game based on his service to the club and the fact he's a premiership player, he doesn't deserve a game, period, based on any of his recent skill level this year.
