Jesus Christ, no need to be d1ckheads about it. It looked to me that every time Carters gotten the ball for us it's been through the middle and half fwd even. My bad

Sorry, haven't had my dinner yet

Yes, he's been playing backline since he was drafted.

How can you even compare the two? It's a straight swap, if you read the previous posts it makes more sense with Geelong's small forwards (Christensen, Stokes, Motlop). Nicnat probably won't come back until round 23 if he even comes back at all this season.

Because they're playing in the backline and Hutch is a midfielder?

The obvious is not obvious enough sometimes:oops:

Wow.

Not sure why we're playing Lycett instead of Hutchings tbh

Yeah I'm also surprised to see Brown retain his spot ahead of Dick.

Herp derp derp.

... who has played in defence for South Freo and West Coast all season, what's your point?

No he isn't Sweet baby.

He is a small lock down defender.

We've had an influx of returning mids.

Hutchings isn't versatile enough to play anywhere but the guts.

I disagree, if he can play as a tagger he can play in defence. Have a look at the hawthorn, sydney and geelong sides. Burgoyne plays in defence (didn't at Port), mitchell, mcveigh, bartel, these are all out and out ball winning midfielders playing in defence when required. Other teams have about 12 midfielders and they play everywhere, we seem to have this attitude here that he is a midfielder, he is a defender. A Flanker is a midfielder now anyway must have the ability to run all day. Butler is a midfielder but has been thrown back because of his frail body. Rosa has also played half back this year. Hutch deserves a run because of his form, fit him in.

Ive been watching him do the same things for years since he has been on our list and apart from a decent game or two in the finals last year, he has never justified his position. Not best 22 imo.

Isn't finals performance more or less the single most important metric? He was in the side for around 5 games before those performances, I think it takes a few games before he really switches on. Given how intensive some of the next few games are having a player who performs well under pressure both adds to the team and also help lift others to give their all.

I think you will find he played most of the games last year and played very few good ones. Just because he has a couple of good games(not great) in the finals doesnt mean he is some sort of finals specialist.

Why are so many people calling out for 'Ginnity's head after one average performance?

I thought he was serviceable in the games against Hawthorn and Essendon, 2 of our better performances this year. He then had a quite good game against the Crows (his tackle that took Vince out of the game went some way to us getting over the line at the death), but then misses 4 weeks. He plays great in the wafl in his first game back after suspension, but is a bit rusty last week against the Bombers and people want him straight out of the team?

Reason is other players get dropped even if they dont play badly, ie Hutchings, wilson. Yes of course there is issues with structure, matchups etc but he played poorly most of last year and still got a game. He is a jack of all trades and master of none, his ball handling and disposal is poor, not average, poor. Carter has shown more in a few games than he has in a few years. He adds mongrel and aggression but has a maximum amount of tackles in a game of 8. With those poor skills he should be a tackling machine, minimum 10 a game. He reads the game badly and that is why he is rarely in the right position to impact play. Small/Medium Defensive players must be able to hurt the opposition the other way and he doesnt.

Enough of an explanation for you

Paddy would have been picked ahead of Wilson this week due to match-ups, Geelong has a mosquito fleet and Wilson wouldn't be nimble enough to go with them. The Eagles seem to already be keen to pump games in to Carer so you would think Paddy would be first in line to get the axe next week.
