Could we be worse? Yes.

It depends on what we want to achieve, if we want to punish those who under-perform then yes, it would punish them, would it improve our chance of winning next week? Unlikely, most of those players were in the side and playing just as shit earlier in the season.

We just have too many mediocre footballers all over the park. We won the contested possessions 148 v 145, won the tackles 82 v 67, were only 1 short on clearances 43 v 44, dominated hitouts 67 v 33, had more disposals 369 v 339 and we were destroyed by almost 10 goals.

We just do not have the quality. The vast majority of our disposal while not clangers, do not give us any advantage and we just piss fart around with the ball until we turn it over.

Unless we address that problem, just shuffling the deck chairs on the titanic is pissing into the wind.
I agree that we have a number of guys who do not understand the concept of kicking to advantage but our issues aren't only offensive but also defensive. We not only set up poorly defensively but lack the run in our side to minimise the counter when we lose the ball. Bringing in quicker types and dropping some of our plodders would at least change the mix of our line up and if switched on they would be capable of applying additional pressure. Yeah and I don't think it could get any worse than being thumped by the last place side. :stern look

Thompson has to be due for a spell but not a lot of options. Waite is the wrong player, like to give Maj more of s chance but won't happen.

Need run and desperation, Fordham, Turner and Harper in. Perfect timing for Garner if fit.

**** me they just had a spell.

Do what you are paid to do, or gtfo. That includes the coaches.

The club sits on a knife's edge financially, a couple of years of this shit and the calls to relocate/disband/merge will be in full roar again.

A comment from the commentators tonight was that the Suns had had only 3 players to play all games this year. NM had had 11. Time for this sort of crap to change. The coaches are too scared to make the hard calls, for some reason.

IMO these experienced players need to be dropped.:
Petie...Out. Played like shit again
Waite.... Out. Played shit again
Firrito .... Out and never seen again. Too many piss weak handballs that cant hit a target from 5 metres.

Play Wood and Black. They ARE our future. Petrie and Waite are not. I would hate to think that Waite cost us Black, when he leaves at year end, coz he couldnt get a game, and Waite is a list plogger, and nothing more.

Spud has been a great servant of the club, but McDonald and Mullet can give us more run of the back line. Mullet will join Black at another club next year for a 4th rounder, unless they get games. That, I would say, is absolutely shit list management.

We should be aiming for a bottom 5 spot and a decent draft pick, rather than a top 4 spot. We overrated ourselves so much. Well, I did. We are shit!

I am all for us doing something pro-active, and say we aren't going to win shit in the next two years but if we act now we might still have an excellent shot in 3 years with a mini-rebuild, but it really isn't going to do shit for us in the short-term. We can't address the problems we have on a week-by-week basis, we need to make the right longer-term call.

If we do make that call then you would have to write off this year completely and say what are the best calls required for the young players you are talking about. I would say the best thing for them would be to start the 2016 pre-season campaign now so operations done now, increase work-load of the younger players for muscle gain, core strength, work them hard all week for skill work and just accept they are going to be too stuffed to play well on the weekends, but if need be, leave them in the VFL for softer games and let the old farts play out the season in the seniors.

Fighting for a respectable 9th position finish is just going to mean we get another shit pick.

We should definitely consider a new coach, this year has been a debacle.

Sorry about your loss today guys but gee, how's this for a game next week... 2014 semi final replay with both teams coming off losses to Melbourne and Gold Coast! Bit embarrassing for all of us.

You guys have won a crapload of flags recently, we have no excuse to be as shit as we are.

Wouldn't mind seeing Kayne Turner back in the side either, has better disposal and decision making skills than Nahas, and can actually chase with intent and lay a decent tackle

Turner has been really shit in the AFL this year, not sure why, maybe he is just too buggered, it is really his first full on season. There is no need to rush him. I agree, Nahas does a lot of stupid things with the ball, his biggest strength is knowing when to get in space when we move the ball quickly, Turner doesn't really get on the end of many soft goals.

Excuse my theories, but I think North and Geelong are in similar boats (albeit we have our crapload of flags). We're both proud clubs who simply don't finish down the bottom. The downside to that is that we don't ever get top draft picks. Look at how the Dogs are flourishing with Stringer, Macrae, Bontempelli and co. St Kilda look on track with their youngsters. But teams like yours who consistently play finals or just miss out are missing out on the gun youngsters and relying on finding gems with late picks (I like the look of Dumont and Turner for you). History shows you need to go right down to make it to the top.

Yes to Wood , Mullet and even Harper, but no to Black. He is a spud and if we play him and he plays poorly like he always does in recent times it would just diminish his trade value.

I agree that pride has stung us in recent times, even when it's rebuild time we don't like to lay down, scratch out as many wins as possible despite sucking it up big time and being lumped with mid tier picks at best.

Not saying I don't think the list has talent but I'd love to have an absolute jet top pick in the side (or two).

That being said I respect the club ethos and would be disgusted if we ever took the easy path of just losing to grab a pick.

I agree with the sentiment that basic skill errors are costing us. Mids fluffing regulation kicks/handballs, forwards dropping marks inside 50, poor set shots etc.

But I reckon it's our lack of desperation that is the root of all our problems.
Now I know that's a very old school and broad thing to say but to me it's obvious.
We don't do enough of the hard stuff to win the game. We allow the opposition to bring the ball out of our forward half FAR too easily for a side that wanted to push up towards the top end of the ladder.
We are not manic enough in our attack on the man and disciplined around the contest, often allowing the opposition clean break away, usually hanging our defenders out to dry.

And as usual in these losses we were exposed by a lack of speed.

Look at Collingwood, shit even Freo, no where near the skill level of the Hawks or Swans but are in every contest because they are honest and disciplined and are willing to work hard for four quarters every week.

Not sure if it's the coaches not getting it out of the players or the players not having the heart to do what it takes to be a top side, either way the onus is on Walsh to figure it out and get this shit sorted before it's too late.

I'll do my changes after the VFL games, but I'd love Harper to have another good game and get a call up.

Who honestly believes the stubborn nature of team selection will change?

Out: Daw

In: Brown
You forgot Jacobs for Bastinac or Wood or McDonald because there is no way that all 3 would get a game. They will have to wait for the next 2 weeks when we make the weekly one change

After today's loss, you can't go throwing the baby into the bath-water. Just need a slight re-jig.
Basti should be right to come in next week for DuMont and Brown comes in for Daw.
Brad Scott back at the healm and suddenly things look a lot better.

I always feel like there is some sort of cryptic message in your posts and then sometimes I think you're just slightly mental

Your are taking the piss right? You forgot this;) or this:p or this:eek:or this:rolleyes:

Retire Wells (negotiate his last year payout) and Petrie, trade Swallow.

Offer some 2nd/3rd year kids enormous overs and make it impossible for them not to ask for a trade.

Honestly those calls would be warranted this time given we are pissing our opportunity to survive up against the wall.

North were a proud club 20 years ago, right now they seem heartless
