First game in a month and he got beat up. Splattered in a few tackles and couldn’t finish the game. Hip, ribs, or his shoulder again, I’m not sure.
But he was hurt.
A rest up might be enough, but he was struggling.

I have been told that Whitfield was just winded, and finished the game fine.

Sorry I think your obsessive fixation on Dayne is affecting your judgment.

Never mind he wasn’t vintage Beams.

But let’s look at the numbers. He was still averaging 25 possessions a game.
He uses the ball well.

By any measure he played better in his 9 games than the best 9 games of Brown (who is a ripper), he’s better than having Thomas or Daicos or Sier  or Aish or Varcoe or Greenwood or Hoskin-Elliott.

He’s still better than all of them in any reality. He’s better than many players.

He got injured or carried that injury. He’s A grade. That simple.

That you don’t like him, fair enough. No rule says he must be liked.

He’s just a darn good player and A grade players help good sides excel.

That he didn’t register votes in our social media award - well that’s just a cross he’ll have to bear.

Bottom line, it’s finals and he’s available he gets picked as he should before most other players.

He's no hope of coming back this year. He walked away from rehab and training.

Not for me.

No no no no

Beautiful medium rare rib eye with a high marble count steak.

Better than a nice cut that tries but just not quite melting in the mouth.

You're beginning to sound like me talking about Josh.

There’s Sier.

But there’s Matthew. And no love is truer.

Even that big bear.

With Coniglio and Kelly out, also Ward for that matter, we need to just shut out Taranto, and we should be able to win the midfield battle. Maybe Greenwood on Taranto, with Mayne running with Whitfield, who creates alot of their plays of HB.
Whitfield in some doubt with rib issues. My bet is he won’t pull up with their short break.

Why would you want anyone to Captain a side if their heart isn’t in it?

Because he is the type of player I would follow Apex36........I never passed judgment where his heart is.

Beams might be the move that slams our entire window shut.
Maybe if we hadn’t acquired Quaynor, but as it stands, losing a late first round pick this year won’t break us.

If we didn’t trade for Beams, we still were drafting IQ and Kelly, so perhaps we have some other kid like Atu who wouldn’t really be helping us in 2019-20 anyway instead of Beams.

Much rather do what we did in adding Beams and Roughead then have chased a guy like May.

Re GWS changes

Out Moore, Pendles, Crocker
In Scharenberg, Adams, Howe

Wilson isn’t spelt with a “Q”!

If Howe isn't right to resume and we don't give Crocker another week then perhaps T.Brown might be our 3rd debutante in as many weeks.

He didn't have a dominant game by any means in the VFL but there was still a couple of passages of play that made you should sit up notice in which he displayed great awareness and evasiveness in traffic and was very Pendlebury like.

Earlier in the season of course he took a screamer so definitely has some special traits to work with moving forward.

I agree. As good as Taranto is, Whitfield is easily their best player, would love to see Mayne play the same role he did on Hurn. Only problem is Whitfield is one of the fittest players in the AFL and covers tremendous ground. I don’t think Mayne has the engine to run with him all game.

If Howe doesn't come up, l would think Goldsack or Madgen will come into calculations before Tyler B.

Take the sack out of your mouth. Now.

The jury is out on Dayne Beams and why did we give away Marley Williams for pick 105? Should have held him.

Marley Williams at his best was basically a Brayden Maynard.

Sure, some folks like to pot Marley as being useless because he’s a butcher of the ball, but that’s like saying Mayne is useless because he is slow. Marley had one great season for us (2014?) but his form went downhill around the court case. The word on the street was that the reason we traded him had nothing to do with onfield ability.

Add Ceglar (who we delisted and hung onto Gault) and Witts to trade busts ...

... but we ended up well ahead in the Roughead, Dunn, and Howe trades. Probably add WHE and Aish to that as players who we didn’t pay so much for (2nd rounders?), but have become solid team regulars.

With Beams we’re still **way** ahead ...

... DeGoey & Crisp & Greenwood & Beams 2019+ & couple of 2018 3rd round picks (points for Q and Kelly) for ...

... Beams 2015-2018 & 2014 fourth (?) round pick & 2018 pick 21 & 2018 third round pick & 2019 first round pick in the teens

Neither ceglar or Witts as specialist rucks would get a game for us. At least Gault as a mobile kph/ ruck was the type of player we needed to try and develop.
