I keep saying it - none of our current defenders have the body size or strength to go with Curnow or McKay. Burton is tall, but he's built like a stick, and would get bullied. Bergman is a bit stronger, but gives up extra height, as does Jones.

Jonas has the experience playing on a bigger body - he has to be selected. It may not work out, and then we draw a line through him. If he can do a serviceable job, then that's great. Better we find out now rather than later.

Bergman is 189 cm/86 kg
Burton is 191cm/ 92 kg

Not sure how that equates to Burton being skinnier and weaker.

You might well be right. Aliir takes McKay no doubt and is a good match. Bergs definitely starts in defence.

But remember Bergs is giving up 10 kegs and a couple of inches on Curnow and Curnow is as mobile as any forward. Will take a super effort to make that work.
I think Aliir is our only good matchup on McKay. I don't think we have anyone close. McKay is 200cm. Aliir is 195cm IIRC but with a strong leap.

Curnow is 194cm. I think the Iceberg can take him. Bergman is 189cm but definitely plays much higher and faster than most players in the competition for his size with a lot of youthful exuberance.

Going by recent games, I think the coaching staff would have these matchups even if McKenzie was playing. I think they would have tried to hide him on a slower, less impactful player.

Jonas, well, it would be a bloodbath and the Blues will go through whoever he was on until every last drop was squeezed out.

We know Jonas plays tougher and puts his body on the line, but he's slowed down and second efforts appear harder for him to give. Anyway it sounds like Hinkley's eagerly made the decision to call him up regardless of the weekly planning and preparation. .

Bergman is the same height as Jonas and Burton is similar weight to Jonas.

FFS! At this point...I really don't care if Jonas plays or not. Stick Ken at Full back and we still beat them. Yeah Jonas is past it...we all know it.🤣
It ain't news.

How is Jake Pasini Tracking. Id love to see him get a go for a few weeks and get some games into him

The the streak has to be broken at some stage and it would only be fitting for the team to be led by Jonas that day. Hopefully that will cement his fate to retirement.

Our last two losses (and only two losses) came against Collingwood and Adelaide respectively. After this week we play those same two teams again in that same order.

There’s something in that I reckon.

And you were going so well!
dixon is pretty much like franklin last year, its obvious he's just about cooked so we might as well use him up to our advantage then call it quits. Knowing Ken he'll go with him into finals because he's been a Hinkley backer since day dot and then realise he shouldnt be in the team around the 3rd quater mark when we are 6 goals down.

Yep, there is. It's the fact we got a heavily corrupted fixture given we finished 11th last year.

Dixon is in the team because he's in our best 22. Yes, he's hobbled at the moment, but he's battling away manfully and is doing a very good job at playing his role. If you bring in Lord for example, the opposition will play off him.

There's a lot that McEntee does that goes under the radar, he's the one doing the grunt work so others can shine. I'd have him in before Rioli, he's a head down no frills player.
lol. McEntee before Rioli! McEntee should be dropped for Narkle if we are being serious.
