Top 4 is just about signed sealed and delivered. But if we win this weekend it would just about be mathematically put to bed too.

So as it probably has been for a few weeks now, it is about making sure we win enough games to finish top 2.

Our run home is tough from here but realistically we probably only need to win 4 out of the remaining 7 to finish top 2.

If we win this game and Brisbane lose to melbourne, we will have a 3 game buffer on Brisbane with 3 rounds to go. We would just about be nearly there, but if you flip those results it will get really interesting.

This is another one of those must win games as it's the easiest of our next 4. I think we should win our last 3 though.

Oh god... I was at that game and I'm going to this week's too... Looks like we've only beaten Carlton at docklands twice in history.
Those were the games this guy wasn't umpiring I'm guessing?

I want to see Dixon go down back and replaced by Lord. McKenzie has battled manfully all year but he's been out biggest weakness down back since Jonas got the boot and I continue to worry about the best forwards getting ahold of us in September. Marshall plays his best footy when Dixon isn't getting in his way. I'd also prefer to see lord used as the second ruck over Finlayson as he's been our best goal kicker this year.

So out McKenzie in lord
Duursma in for Rioli
Bergman stays down back and Williams goes up forward to replace Rioli

Old man Dixon on one leg as a defender. No please.

I'm spewin I didn't watch the Carlton game on the weekend to see this reversal in form of theirs. A few weeks back I was watching just looking line by line through that team and thinking they have so many weak links. Suddenly they get a couple easy kills, it starts some momentum and they pull off a huge win V Freo in Perth. That's a huge performance really, so maybe my opinion of them would be far higher now. But the depth of our midfield has gotta be a challenge for anyone these days and I'm not sure they'll be able to control all of Rozee, Butters, Wines, JHF, Boak, Drew, it's a lot of weapons and theirs certainly isn't as deep.

So now we hit them as they near the crest of another peak. For mine there were some signs Vs GC and Ess that we're on the verge of dropping one. Cant stay up forever. However we should rightly go in as favs this week regardless of their form and I'm not sure they will be able to stop us if we can get our game rolling. I personally wouldn't mind a loss, but I'd also like to see us take at least the next 2 W's before finally dropping one. Beating Collingwood in a fortnight is the real important one.

How is Pasini going?
Poorly

2014 Round 1 and?? Struggling to remember the other time, 2006? Bad memories against them there.

Pasinis form can’t be any worse than Jonas

We should be picking him over jonas, but we won’t.

He’s also a better like for like than jonas.

As I said earlier, we play McKenzie deep to utilise his closing speed, we will not play tom there if we pick him

We will likely move burton there.

I would rather move Fin down back
Tell Dixon to play high forward and not leave the forward 50
Fin rucks in defence Sam centre Dixon forward

Dunno that i'd be moving our highest goal kicker to defence to accomodate Dixon having no limbs.

Carlton will need to bring extreme pressure if they are a chance in this game. They've been on the improve with their ball movement since the bye. Remember last years game where they were unreal with their tackling and pressure in the first half, but it fell right away in the second half and we almost pinched it, and that was when we were on a 5 game losing streak, not a 13 game winning streak.
We do seem to play at their level whenever we play them in Melbourne though, so I think it will be really close.

We need to use this game to prepare for the 3 tough ones after it. Collingwood just managed Mihocek & Maynard against Bulldogs. We need to trust our depth against the Blues who have one day less recovery and the dreaded Perth trip.
Out
Dixon, McKenzie, Rioli, JHF, McEntee
Ins
Lord, Evans, Bonner, Narkle, Jonas* Duursma as sub
Jonas just because I know it’s coming. I’m not sure if Dixon knee gets any better without surgery, but it’s hard to see him so hampered. Lord fwd/2nd ruck. Bonner and Narkle should to get some full game time. Duursma has sub after 2 full games including the slog in the mud. Evans gets rewarded. JHF go back to SANFL and find a bit of outside football, he needs to learn how to find easy touches to get him involved. Can only watch so many times w him try to burst through the stoppage’s only to be held up for another ball up.

Like your thinking but no way in hell would this happen

Pasini makes Jonas look like peak Scarlett. He is woeful. It's not a decision between Pasini and Jonas, its a decision between Jonas and nobody.
Yep. Pasini gets time and credit coming back off his injury, but we want to see a huge uplift in form from him soon, and/or a massive preseason.

We shouldn’t be disrupting our forward set up to cover a key back or ruck. It’s so potent that as long as we win the mid battle we win.

If we mess with the forward setup to cover ruck or defence then we open ourselves up to being scored on from the back half as a result.

Just play a ruck (Lycett first choice with Hayes backup if he’s injured) and either bring in Jonas and deal with it or shuffle Jones/Bergman/Burton around on to their key forward who is playing further up the ground.

We can’t have these guys isolated deep 1on1 with a McKay/Curnow but they can manage them up the ground with third up cover.

5 changes to a team on a 13 game win streak?
3 of them unforced...

That's just crazy talk.

This is a danger game, and a must-win, exactly because of the next 3. No way we are not putting our best team out vs Carlton.
