I'm assuming it might mean he apparently coaches the best when he's about to be shown the door? Irregardless of all that garbage we won't win. Too many senior players out , too many out of form. Port needs a serious pre season work out going to the kokoda trail and finding what real hard workouts in group competitions are like. Early on circa 2013/2014 Port was a fitness leader in the AFL, now struggling to outlast teams in the last quarter.

His superpower is the ability to pad out his win/loss ratio by consistently beating GCS/North/St Kilda/Essendon and making everyone believe that this makes him a good coach.

I think Port are under done. Feels like we have a week or two to go of preseason but it’s round 3 already. A number of sides look like this. The difference is a side like GWS, Collingwood or Brisbane have the leadership, experience and age profile that players just get it done.

The playing a week behind Collingwood, the five day break, the heat and the injuries have hurt us. Across the three games we been missing BZT, Esava, Lord, Burton, Jones, Lukoscious, Marshall and Butters. With SPP coming back off a long term injury. Whilst it seems like Bergmann, Farrell, JHF have all had knocks or seem to be carrying something. So our spine and match winners aren’t there.

It’s no small wonder that Wines, DBJ and Boak have played solid games thus far for us being the elder statesmen and most experienced players.

This isn’t an excuse and I think we need to look at our fitness and how that builds our mental resilience and vice versa. But there are some extenuating circumstances and we need to give them a little time.

an interesting observation i saw that champion data had st kilda as in the top 3 for fast ball movement, its not something you would generally say about ross lyon teams, so its most probably gonna be a shoot out of some sorts, this is generally how port like to play as they cant stand it when teams clamp down on them as history has proven

They were top 2 last year too from memory?
If not that they were definitely 2nd in transition scoring from the back half which is usually a good measure of pace of play.

he was good and looked to have locked down the first ruck role until his leg injury.

And it was reasonable to think he should be able to give a forward role a bit of a shake.

I suspect he was under done from a preseason point of view.

Would definitely play Walsh either in defence or attack. I know he's trained in defence but he's a beautiful set shot kick too. We have to get games into him some way.

Berry, Moraes, Cochrane should play rest of the year. I'd thrown in Lorenz and Walsh too.

Wouldn't mind giving Evans a run in the 2s and playing Williams, his kicking off HB would really help us and he's a strong mark.

Saying all that, the only change I expect we'll make is being Jones back for Soldo and put Esava forward.
