I hate bagging Sloane as he's been one of our all time great clubmen and played to a very high level for years.
However, based on his current on field performance, it's now clear that he can be easily replaced.
I keep thinking of last year and how Nathan Jones from Melbourne FC, displayed remarkable leadership when he could no longer justify a best 22 selection. True leadership in action and tremendous "team first" ethic displayed by the entire footy club.
As an organisation, are we that good?
Gather they may have flown over one or more of the other emergencies.
I prefer us playing them in the sanfl & risk them playing more than 1 game than missing out on any game time whilst we are in rebuild mode.
If we have a late out, Pedlar comes in & then one of the others becomes the sub. Unlikely they play a full game & even if they play most of another game, their minutes can be managed.
I can’t see it either. Obviously started by someone i have on ignore.Where is the game day thread? Not appearing for me! Anyone able to flick a link.
Ta, hadn't pondered that!I can’t see it either. Obviously started by someone i have on ignore.

Jones was injured, couldn’t play many games it in 2021 (when he retired)
Bit different scenario to Sloane.
One was about being physically able to play, the other is more about what they are bringing to the team.
If Sloane moved to half forward and delivered effort, he’d be fine.

If they don't play him he will likely retire or work out a settlement.Sloane has 2 years including this one, he ain’t going anywhere
We won’t do it. You hear Nicks and Burns speak, he’s the captain so he plays. If they don't play him he will likely retire or work out a settlement.
Gold!did chuckle when I saw that.
Yeah, you appear to be right ... I am amazed at how bad his speed in the contest has become. No he wouldn’t, his body is cooked. He’s done.
Not the move I'd make, but it isn't surprising.
I am sceptical anyone can come into an AFL side in round 4 without playing a game and perform at a solid level, as I doubt training is a viable substitute.
He has been done for some time tbh. I wonder if a Vic club may look at him for the final year of his contract. More so for a post football role similar to what Lynch took up at North. If we pay half his salary there may be some interest. No he wouldn’t, his body is cooked. He’s done.
Be interesting to see how we manage him from here.
Played well. As I said though pre-game though, playing him was nowhere near as big a blunder as rushing Sloane back. Still, on average it’s the wrong call. It worked this time, but mostly it doesn’t.Still skeptical that Walker can come into an AFL side in round 4 without playing a game and performing at a solid level?
How about you 1970crow ?
