I thought the policy was open for day games. Weather permitting.

The roof is closed when it’s sunny - makes it easier for tv coverage by removing contrast issues when the play goes in and out of the shadows

So is the roof opened or closed? I know the contrast issues with it opened and its been discussed a lot in the media over the years.

Did this rule change with Covid?

What an unbelievable backward league for lacking consistency. Lets not forget it has rained in Melbourne and the rain has affected the game as they didnt close the roof.

Confident Butts can keep him relatively quiet.

Please don't use Billy.
Do you recall the Round 1 game vs Freo...love Butts and he has been huge for us down back but thought Lobb (similar player to 2 metre Peter) got hold of him in that game...2MP isn't in bad form either (averaging 7 marks, 3 goals per game) and Essendon have played three good sides this year...if their midfield get on top, he could be dangerous...no Merrett and Stringer though defo helps us...

Cook has the talent where you just leave him in.

Pedlar needs game either sanfl or afl. Can't believe we make this got the sub. Put a guy like Murphy as the sub.
Guy loses half a year through injury, then gets played forward, then gets sat down for two weeks. The development is mind boggling.

So which of our tall forwards should have been dropped? Granted Himmelberg for Thilthorpe was always questionable choice.

Soligo is in his first season. Given a taste.

Pedlar and Cook - questionable drops.

Tex was always going to play when fit - at this point he is our best forward and provides guidance and direction.
How many young midfielders are we playing? We already have the worst midfield in the comp and now even Schoenberg and Rachele won't get a CBA because we've rushed a half fit, cooked Sloane back in.

He stuck Rachele in the middle at the opening bounce last week. Let's hope there's certain things that even a blind man can see.

Which in of itself is a weird move, Rachele should be left in the forward 50 this year and not battered around in the centre square.

Why not have Pedlar and Berry in there.

Why not?

Rachele is already powerfully built and midfield will be the end game. Kevin Sheahan Medalist for the most outstanding player at the 2019 Nationals, Vic Country M.V.P. p;aying midfield.

Midfielder/Forward

Class with a capital ‘C’, the Country co-captain took out the Kevin Sheehan Medal (Division 1 MVP) and his side’s own MVP award with three sensational performances throughout the carnival. His talent can be summed up with one play in Country’s last game against SA, where he instinctively tapped the ball on over his shoulder to Ben Hobbs at full flight who finished the play off with a goal. Does some freakish things and constantly looks a threat around the ball with his agility and ability to break away from congestion, using both to good effect at forward stoppages. Has obvious leadership quality too and really lifted in trying to drag Country over the line in their loss to WA, having 32 disposals, six marks, four breaches of each arc and 0.3. A star in the making.

Some Science.

Crows without Big Bad Billy 0-2
Crows with Big Bad Billy 1-0.

Keep Billy.

INS: Walker, Sloane

Outs: Fog, Cook
Just call me prophet

Considering my post is from page 3 and yours is from page 17 - I would say the term copycat is a little more apt than prophet.

Senior players omitted in 2022: Milera
Young players omitted in 2022: Thilthorpe, Soligo, Pedlar, Murray, Cook, Fogarty

Which senior players exactly are you advocating dropping?

Smith? Keays? Crouch? Laird? Brown? Dawson?

We had 10 'Senior' players total who had played over 60 games entering 2022. And to be honest I wouldn't consider Milera a senior player. Of those 10 - Seedsman hasn't played, Milera has been dropped, Sloane / Laird have missed 3 games between them and Tex hasn't played a single game.

We have been the youngest side in terms of Age and games played all 3 rounds.

So the rebuild is over then??

We go on about how we have the "youngest list in the AFL".

That means fu** all when your main 22 is still not that young.

Dude. Have a look at other lists. We are playing our absolutely most experienced side. Go ahead and find me another side that will have less than 6 players who have 75 games or more experience.

I think you are confusing tanking with rebuilding. With a list like ours there is no absolutely no way we can field a side with 22 players and not be rebuilding.

I think the problem has been exacerbated by resigning Crouch. When they resigned Crouch they likely had no intention of ever playing him in the SANFL. So if that's the case why did we take Pedlar and Berry in the draft? The club should have moved crouch on as he makes us too slow with Laird, Keays, Sloane all similarly paced.

They could have moved Laird back to the backline in Jones spot (who is underperforming) and move Sloane to half forward. This would leave Keays and Schoenberg in the middle with Berry, Pedlar, Rachele (pinch hit for a couple of cba's), Taylor(when ready). They still could pinch hit Laird through the middle if needed. We could also run Dawson, Murphy, Hinge through there at times to give us a different look. Nick's needs to develop a midfield for the next 10 years and not just to get a few extra wins to save his job.

Closed. There’s a twitter account for the roof (@ralftheroof) and they posted in round 1 that the roof “is closed for tonight’s match and all AFL matches until further notice.” I don’t know if it’s a Covid thing, an OHS thing (at one stage opening or closing the roof couldn’t happen when there were spectators present), a TV thing or a combination of factors

Thanks for that.

I just now from a scoring perspective, an open roof has led to less goals than a closed one. Aside from the horrible viewing on TV when its opened.

I dont get what the big issue, Melbourne generally has shit weather, so its better to always close the roof than to keep it open for that one or two rare days you can have it open.

There was a chance Crouch's groin never properly recovered either, that's why players like Berry and Pedlar are drafted. What happens if Crouch isn't able to play again and our list management didn't bother recruiting for depth in inside midfielders?

Why would they move Laird to half back after he has just transitioned into the midfield and won our B&F doing so? He is a gun midfielder in his prime, so that is where he stays. Dawson, Murphy and Rachele have already all been rotating through the midfield in bursts.

If Berry and Pedlar were playing midfield right now I can guarantee this board would be whinging about something else they don't like with the team structure. A glass half empty attitude has always prevailed on this board, even in seasons like 2017, and I can't see that ever changing.

Cook is a player you want to pump 50 games into as quick as possible. IMO he might end up the best of the 2020 draft.
Nah.. we have to pump 50 more games into sloaney.. he’s clearly more important for the future.. and boy, he’s in really good form at the moment..

Need to also get our moneys worth out of that $850k+ P/y salary we have been paying him..
