That’s not just on him though. He clearly couldn’t beat a tag when playing as a stoppage midfielder, so why the fu** wouldn’t we change up that role? How about putting him out on a wing where he could gut run or at half forward or what about just off the stoppage and have him arriving their in motion. Not our coaches, we just kept having him stand their with his glove able to negate him easily.

Nicks is no different, he’s an idiot too.
He is hard to hide on the field. In the forward line is his only position I can think of where we can put him.

Ive got and im sure no one else has any issue if ben is pushed out due to being overtaken, he just wont be the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd to go at the current state of form.
We need benny right now.. Hes our best midfielder..

and therein lies the problem.

None of us should be thinking ben is anywhere near a longterm option.

Hes a stop gap for the next two years whilst (we hope) guys like Taylor, Hately, Shoey, Soligo, Rachele, Pedlar etc etc and any other blokes we can trade in or draft get up to speed and take over from our current main go to midfield of ben/Laird/Sloane/crouch..

But if in two years from now ben is still our best mid.. I’m afraid we are “the last decade of Carlton” type levels of ****ed..

I don't think they'd make Dawson captain after only being here a year. If it changes hands at the end of 2022 it's likely going to Smith or Doedee, with Laird and Keays outside chances.
I'd go Doedee captain, Keays vice captain, no leadership group.

Won't be Smith. He doesn't have long enough left to make him captain. I don't see a problem making Dawson captain. He has come from a very good system in the swans and the fact he hasn't been at the crows long should be irrelevant if he is the right person. I think any of Dawson, Laird, Doedee are the best choices. My only concern with Doedee is that he is injury prone and seems not as invested this year.

Did anyone hear what Sloane had to say on 5aa?

Bickley asked him if he's prepared to play away from the midfield as we develop. He said his current role is already as a high half forward with a pinch hit in the middle, because the team is ready to rotate lots of players through. He mentioned Schoenberg twice, and listed him as a key mid.

On that note I look forward to Schoenberg not being dropped this weekend.

What a load of bullshit given his centre bounce numbers, I just wish once these dickheads would provide facts which expose the bullshit

Yep, Sloane was bloody hopeless when he was tagged but our coaches left him hang out to dry.

What shit me.. I listenned to Nicksy’s presser yesterday..

God I wanted to punch him for his pathetic excuses for Benny and what he did in that last play.. just loser talk and utter bullshit..

He reaconed that Benny missed delivering that kick to either tex or himmelberg because he hasnt yet spent enough time playing with tex and himmelberg to know exactly what tex and himmelberg would do and where they wanted benny to deliver it to them.. reacons that two years hasnt been long enough to build that synergy (i think thats the word he used) between them all to know where to kick to with that last play of the game!..

WHAT AN ABSOLUTE LOAD OF HORSESHIT.

Benny simply did what benny always does on a very regular basis when streaming towards the forward line.. he fu**n panicked, didnt have the calmness or poise to make the correct decision and thus he fu**n blew it.. kicked it straight onto the chest of an opponent.

GAME OVER.

Nicksy, and the Keays cheersquad in here, can make all the excuses they like but we see exactly what Ben did in those dying seconds of the game atleast a couple or more times in every game from Ben.. at least 7 out of every 10 times ben takes possession and streams toward, or into, our forward 50 the ball either ends up being turned over (sometimes kicked straight onto the chest of an opponent), kicked out of bounds or wasted on a failed wild attempt on goal.

You want to see this club play and win finals again?.. you need to accept the fact that we need our midfield youth to, in the next couple of years, overtake benny.

Or its gonna be a very long decade for us and the club.

Basic facts.. sometimes they can be hard for some to swallow..
Thankfully there's a hell of a lot more in the Ben Keays cheer squad on this board than your shitcan Ben Keays cheer squad.

I'll tell you what's a lot harder to swallow...your continual shitcanning of Ben Keays.

I gotta agree. Nick's making excuses is starting to really piss me off. He missed the kick as he has poor execution and it has nothing to do with not being used to playing playing with certain players. Is Nick's scared to say it as it is or stupid?

I think Nicks is like every coach we’ve sacked since Blight. They think that they can counteract skill failings by somehow having every entry choreographed. Looks great at training but unfortunately football is still about looking ahead, selecting the right target and executing a skill.

Nicks might just be the worst of all of our failed senior coaches.

Some more than alarming signs now with this rebuild and the messaging come from Nicks publicly.

He seems to not know how to progress forward now and I don't see him lasting last this season.

My view is he really wasted 2020 and 21.

no vaccine mandate, no masks, no QR codes for AO anymore

Racing at Penola this week mentions vax status requirement in their ads. Probably a hangover from when racing got exempted from shut down when near on everything else did.

Oh look.. the number 1 ticket holder of the Ben Keays apologists club has arrived…

What are your thoughts on Benny’s kick into the forward line in that last play of the game agaisnt essendon Mutineer?…

So… Was it Tex’s fault it went straight onto the chest of a bombers player and nowhere near a crows player?.. or was it Himmelbergs?…

There appears to be some worrying signs with Nicks selections and philosophies.
And I don't have much faith with Van Berlo being our midfield assistant that those trends will improve
