Who are you having him drop once Darcy comes back? Amiss? Treacy? Jackson? Or do you want him to play Sturt as a small (even though he's ******* useless in that role)? He was OK today only because GWS didn't waste anyone on him. He sprayed two very gettable shots, including when we were still in the game. That 12 point swing with the missed handball from 5m away was incredibly bad. 2 of his shots were from free kicks too, so it's not like he did well to earn 4 shots on goal. Switta was awful too but can pinch hit in the middle and has shown in previous games that he can be very effective there. Freddie is going at 1.5 goals a game when he's healthy.

I don't think Sturt was amongst our worst but he can't stay in this team for balance. Amiss, Treacy, Jackson, Sturt is way too tall. And the Amiss-Treacy-Jackson forward line is proven to be our most effective all year.
Do you need to even ask lol he'd say banners of course.

I agree he probably had two of his worst games of the season, and it's possible he will get dropped next game. However, whole team was shit house today.

Don't know, Fyfe in forward also seems to disrupt our cohesion in the fwd line but no way he would get dropped

I just assumed Banners getting dropped was inevitable. In my head he was already out.

Don't know what's wrong with our mids. Is it Darcy not being there or is Brayshaw knee issue flaring up again. Although in all seriousness, if serongs ankle is really hampering maybe he needs rest and get Ras in there

The issue is we're one dimensional, and that one dimension relies on Darcy being there, and Brayshaw, Serong, and JOM being at their best.

I said ahead of others, if everyone comes back in (Darcy, Aish, Freddy) then it makes it hard. Sturt is applying pressure as well as anyone in that forwardline at the moment and a few players are way down on form. He's fast enough you could rejig things and play a bit taller, maybe it's even more effective.

I dont think selection integrity stands if he's dropped being one of the only ones doing his job

Selection integrity is different if a player is omitted for structural reasons or because better players are coming back. Erasmus' performance earlier in the year didn't warrant him getting dropped, but with players coming back he had to be the one to make way. The only way Sturt keeps his spot that makes sense structurally is if Freddy doesn't get up. This is already under the assumption that Banfield gets dropped.

Amiss, Treacy, Jackson, Walters, Switta, Schultz, Freddie. Already quite tall for a wet game.

I dont think Freddy's form has been strong enough to push Sturt out after being injured. I think everyone's form over the full year has been shakey enough that a wake-up call is needed and Peel / AFL performances need to be rewarded.

Freddy's form this year has been much better than Sturt's form. This is the first game Sturt has played where he had more than a 5 minute cameo. Freddy has 14 goals. Has kicked multiple goals 5 times this year. He's had two poor games in the last 6 weeks, and only goalless in one of them. I really don't think Sturt needs to be rewarded for one OK game if Freddy, who has played better ALL year, is fit and ready to go.

Yep, once Sturt missed that handball in the first we were gone. Just because someone score a couple of goals doesn’t mean they played well (although he wasn’t terrible).

if Darcy is back one of Sturt or Banfield have to go. I prefer to keep banners but I’m not going to cry either way.

NOD needs a rest, hopefully Aish is ok to come back in.

I’d like to see Ras get a full game, could be for NOD or possibly Johnno if it’s a bad cork.

oh, and Freddie back in forgot about Rick.

so, Darcy, Fred, Aish/Ras in
Sturt/Banfield, johnno (inj), Nod out

It was clear last week that Freddie wasn’t fully fit. One of my mates pointed it out at the game.

So we should drop young who conceded a goal through a ridiculously bad kick when we had just got the momentum back

But rewarding a guy playing a good game is how they keep getting better, worked for Banners (temporarily) and it provides a wake up call for the guy underperforming they replace. I'll soften a bit, Freddy is not going to be fully fit after missing 1 week given how much he was clearly feeling the week before. He hasnt been good enough to kick out the one guy who did their job when not fully fit

I actually dont understand how you can prefer to keep Banners tbh

Was just as momentum killing especially since I could not for the life of me figure out who he was trying to kick to. But turning it over with a risky kick into the corridor from a guy who was actually doing it really well up until that point in the game is much more forgiveable than missing a 5m handpass when we were streaming forward. And not to mention Young is actually a good, proven player.

There is risky and totally irresponsible. I know which one it was.

I would also like to see a replay if the Sturt handball. I thought Walters could have done more to get to that. It was a pretty lazy performance by the majority of the team, i thought.

Walters COULD have done more, he could have reached for it and held it and ultimately gotten tackled because in that extra second it took him to do that the GWS player would've made ground. He shouldn't have had to do break his stride to collect a handball from 5m away.
