I don't think it helps that he spent the entire pre season as a forward either, only for us to chuck him in the mids.
Yeah we're trying to find him a spot but the dude can't move properly so he doesn't really have one.

Rest up the foot and see if we can get a full preseason in.

Worner, Wagner and Banfield played well today at Peel. Those 3, Sturt and Erasmus will be in contention.

NOD - needs many more weeks in WAFL
Brodie - was ok but made some uncharacteristic errors with handballs.
Colyer - actually played reasonably well but fumbles a fair bit still. Too old and won’t get a contract.
Wilson - absent for 3 quarters but showed up in the last when the game was on the line and was awesome in the last quarter. Must have got close to 9 of his 13 possessions in the last. Also too old and won’t get a contract.
Corbett - good team mate. Clunks a good mark but genuinely poor foot skills really. Even the goal he kicked late was spinning more like a helicopter.

  • Fyfe will be out injured
  • Hughes had an issue with his finger and his double touch issues and hesitation get him into trouble.
  • Rather Jackson go in the Centre bounce ruck than JT.

Out: Fyfe, Hughes
In: Banfield, Worner

Em: Hughes, Sturt, Erasmus, Wagner (not fussed who is emergency)

Erasmus, Worner and Wagner in for Fyfe, Switta and Hughes.

And, piss the "shits and giggles" last training session off and we might start games a bit better!

What's going on with Brodie?

He was an absolute revelation last year, just about the best inside extractor in the comp at times.

Does anyone know what's happened?
I'm guessing change of midfield personnel meant his deficiencies couldn't be ignored.

Id go Erasmus, Sturt and Worner for Fyfe, Switta and Hughes. While I wouldn't mind Wagner as sub. In my team Aish and Worner would basically swap 50/50 in gmaetime between defence and wing.Sturt replaces Switta and Erasmus spends time forward and mid so he replaces Fyfe.

We got smashed due to inexperience in the period of the game where it mattered most. With Fyfe likely out, we can't replace him with a guy whos played about 10 games, mostly as sub. We need more of Luke Jackson in the midfield for starters, I don't know why they refused to use him there today. We really don't have much to choose from in the WAFL either.

I don't really know what the go is. No clear replacement for anyone. Probably give Brodie another shot. See if he can recapture some of last year.

Nah. We still need that triple J fwd structure, even if it's for amiss sake.

Jackson had few almost moments ...that could of changed his and our fortunes today

He needs to play majority forward, but he can't be having only 2 CBAs for the entire game. He's wasted when we play him sole ruck, and he's wasted when we play him exclusively forward. He's most impactful when he's able to play multiple roles throughout the game.

Treacy is wasted in the ruck if Jackson is forward. Doesn’t work.
Treacy got plenty of ball on the king and leading forward. Jackson nearly clunked a few marks.

The forward line needs a third/medium forward. Fyfe does nothing to help.
It’s either Banfield or Sturt.

No? If Jackson is forward then Treacy and Amiss are also forward. That's what's worked best for us all year.

Outs:

Hughes (omit)
JOM (omit)
Switta (omit)
Fyfe (inj)

Ins:

Worner
Kuek
Ras (full game not sub)
NOD
Kuek? Are you having a laugh he’s miles off it.
There is also no chance of JOM being dropped he’s been pretty solid.
Sturt is the first cab off the tank for Switta or Freddie.
Then I’d have Brodie in for Fyfe.
Drop Hughes I agree, and maybe put Aish back there and bring in Worner or Ras from the start.
Whoever from Switta or Freddie is dropped can be sub

How do we know Kuek is miles off it if we never play him?

Also why gift Aish another game after that dreadful performance, and why keep JOM in?? JOM has been garbage all year apart from 2 mediocre games, he is a locked in player that is just massively holding us back, just the same as the never ending selections of Banfield and Hughes were holding us back. Either results at Peel mean something or this is just a coach's favourite team.

Worner deserves to be in. Been super consistent with Peel.
Would be great to see if Worner looks at home at AFL level. Switta can’t keep getting a free paycheck without a run in the seconds, the club needs to reward form and effort. Fyfe looks like he is done for the year so give Sturt his spot and a decent run of games. Emmett too should be considered. We need to think about what a possible 2024 first week of finals team looks like.

Haven't we learned yet? in and outs on the margins dont matter, its about the midfield winning enough in the contest, has been all year.

Carlton will play their grand final against us, could be a low point for us in a season of low points.

Yeah but it's not like our midfield unit is bossing it week on week. I thought his biggest weakness was his tank. If so, the sub role would suit him well.

Out using Treacy in the ruck when we have two rucks in the team.
Leave him forward. He and Amiss are building team work up forward. Having the rest ruck forward varies the forward line. Jackson and Darcy are very different beasts. Having Jackson on the ball as second ruck let’s him roam the ground more.
