Corbett is a good pickup
Changes like that.
Tabs (lacking confidence, and we are too tall) > Fyfe/Sturt/Corbett
Henry (too much hesitation and then pulling bad options) > Frederick
NOD (needs some form at Peel - couldn’t get near it) > Johnson (full game)
Banfield (change to Tactical Sub) > Brodie
Re: Henry I’m not a Brad Hardie fan but he made a comment on 6PR commentary which I 100% agree with. Henry needs to start his wing positioning in the back half and focus (now at Peel) getting back to help defence and then run forward. Is too often forward of centre and out of position. When he does get the ball and looks up forward of centre and sees no one he hesitates and chooses bad options. Get back to help defence and run forward from there. He did this a bit for Peel in 2022 and against Saints. Not since.
JOM to high half forward with licence to drift deeper forward. He played this role with Hawks and looked dangerous with his i50 marking.

When are the cavalry flying over? Surely if they're hubbing as a team we'd want anyone even remotely in the mix to fly over today and spend the week with them? I'd send half a dozen at least - Sturt, Brodie, Erasmus, Worner, Treacy, Corbett. I assume Fyfe and Frederick are already there. Peel play on Saturday so anyone not selected can fly back Friday and still play for Peel

I am still shocked at the sheer amount of fumbles, shit kicks and other general crappy form from some of our stars last year.
Players who are out of form vs last year = Brayshaw, Pearce, Brodie, Young, Cox, O’Driscoll (but is a young player coming back from injury so can be excused), Ryan (looking even worse than his average season last year)
Plus the loss of Mundy, Acres and Lobb shouldn’t be underestimated.
Not sure what the hell happened over the off season with our players but some of them look like shadows of their former selves.

Maybe Acres wasn't a spud and neither was Logue
How much do.we need them at the moment
We have a meek winger in Henry and an unfit O'Driscoll instead of Acres
Logue would be an upgrade on anyone bar Cox in the backline. JLO mishandled him last season.
Big questions need to be asked.

Acres defently had that harder edge that we are missing. Odriscoll isnt fit thats the senseless selection decisions we are making Erasmus Sturt Johnson more worthy of a start before him.
Acres’ loss is confounded by Henry playing. Hughes is fine, he’s doing the job. Need an attacking wing and NOD isn’t fit. Add Johnson/Worner and it’s balanced

The funny thing is the club with all of its coaches, administrators, recruiters, etc. still couldn't recognise that if you lose a winger like Acres who runs up and down the wing all day that you need to replace them and we thought we could simply plug players into the position and all would be rosy, yet readily available and on show today were Jadyn Hunt and Lachie Hunter, either one of who would have fit perfectly. I guess if Lobb and Young had not messed us around we could have got Rivers but we had no Plan B. Only to have Langdon and Brad Hill to be roaming up and down the wings of Optus again.
We played better then.

I reckon it's a different problem. Connolly's playing style was all about avoiding pressuring the ball carrier, instead he adopted this ultra zone defence, where players would rather zone off than go for the man with the ball. Longmuir's problems revolve around our attacking structures when we get the ball. We insist on the perfect clearance and want to avoid anything less, which results in overuse of the ball and a lack of will to take risks moving the ball forward. The slightest pressure on the ball carrier and we're ****ed.
We still have a young list and hope is far from being lost. but JL needs to work this out quickly. Otherwise we have to replace him with someone who will.
I read somewhere that Fyfe didn’t fly but Freddie did

I’d rather play the next gen, and lose then keep the same crap.
If this year is a down year, so be it. Goodwin had 2018 as his, Hardwick had multiple seasons. Jl needs to be backed. This group needs a kick start and go back to 2020 COVID hub roots.
Players like Corbett, Sturt, Worner need to have a look the next few weeks. Treacy, Erasmus as well.
