As a big willo fan, probably. His first two rounds were good. Last two have been poor. Not taking it in anymore.
Damn that's sad, hopefully he can crack into the side again. I think he is a victim of the gameplan but I might be biased. If our gameplan was run and gun I just feel he would thrive. Wish we dropped Henry instead and played Wagner/Worner on the wing.

Our gameplay was the same one when he gave us run from behind and a bit of dash. He stopped doing it in the last two games.

Yep that's fair enough, but have Clark and Walker been doing it? Confidence is down which is why we are overusing handballs imo.

Walker does, but hasn't been playing. Clark I don't get at all. If someone who is not offering run is going to get the flick it will be the one on probably his final year contract with us.
We overuse handballs to pass the buck or get out of trouble. The other more positive handball is in our fast transition, which is ok but probably overdone sometimes.

Well
I want Sturt in too, but most likely he'll barely touch it and everyone will want him back out in two weeks.

3 weeks ago Drizzy was our saviour and now 50% of people have him in their outs after two games.
I would never drop Driz. Let him play and find his touch. He needs to be in.
Same with Walker. I can't believe there are people who didn't like his game last week. I thought he was wonderful.

I still don't think JL will be able to bring himself to play Sturt as a starting player. I hope I'm wrong but I'll be over the moon if Sturt is selected in the starting 22. Hell I'll be happy if he gets selected at all, even as a sub. Still think he's more likely to get held over another week. I imagine Banfield will play FF.

My impression is JL prefers no changes as much possible. Its going to be fascinating if we keep losing which seems likely, to see if he has the guts to try Sturt, Treacy, Corbett, Emmett, even Kuek and Draper. Lets face it all this guys would be getting game time at The Saints with their injuries.
Everything is going right for them right now but its such a study in how empowering guys who would have been no chance to just take the game on and risk everything can create something you wouldn't believe possible.

Obviously I'd have preferred us to come out of the blocks firing this year but we've stalled about as a badly as its possible and the response has been very poor. To the point I've lost almost all confidence the coaches have any idea what the hell is going on.

I see anything less than swinging for the fences as failure this week.

Their injury woes have been a tad overblown. Saints had a fan come on here and tell us their injury list was more quantity than quality and only really a couple of forwards (admittedly King a massive out). Those Freo players you list, maybe 1 or 2 out of Sturt/Treacy/Corbett would get a game at Saints to cover King/Membrey.

Steele a huge out now, but he was there for the first 3. The likes of Jones, Billings, Ross, Coffield were fringe at best and someone like Wood was well ahead, and they were more than happy to play the likes of Owens, Wanganeen, Windhager, Phillipou, Stocker. A bit like how we fans want Sturt, Johnson, Erasmus, etc.

He’s a bloody damaging player when he takes the game on. When he confidence drops however he’s almost as slow to move the ball after a mark as Luke Ryan.
Not sure he offers much as lock-down defender. He has been solid with his run and carry from defence but his opposition forward has been getting loose. Walker is still trying the find the right balance. Sometimes he bites off more than he can chew (Wilson) better at this he doesn’t get HTB anywhere near as often or run himself into trouble. But Walker is good one on one defender. Wilson is not. If he has been dropped that would be the reason. If it is then the Captain would need to lift because his one on one work has been terrible many times.

why we are overusing handballs imo

The overuse (or not) of handballs is an interesting one. Handballs very much part of the fast-go game and the highest users of handballs at the moment are the undefeated Saints. While the lowest on the average handballs include Geelong, Lions, Gold Coast & Crows.

We use handball well on transition. Probably just one handball too many at times.
We do use multiple handball back often in the contest when you sometimes think the player in possession could just run and kick it themselves.

Walker was highlighted 2 or 3 times on Footy Classified last night in no mans land, leaving Rankine to go towards the ball but then not impacting the contest. The commentary was if you leave your forward you need to then attack and impact the contest.

I know a lot on here rate his dash but Rankine towelled him up and had multiple score involvements.

I'm as keen as anyone to see Sturt get a game this tomorrow, his skill set is exactly what we've been crying out for.

But...he is not the messiah. He is quite likely to have an underwhelming game. I hope both the match committee and posters on this board show some patience.
You're probably right. I am getting my hopes up that he smashes it outta the park and kicks a bagfull, but it is seriously wishful thinking.

It is exciting to see the possible future of the forward line, hoping it works or looks good enough to start making more daring changes and inclusions down teh track.

That is probably why the others aren't running off because they are responsible for players like Rankine etc. Not sure the player/s you want attacking should be on a player like that.
